Kids love the weird statues and secret doorways. Adults appreciate the sheer oddness of it all. My advice would be to book ahead as they limit visitor numbers.
2. Mount Grace Priory – This well-preserved Carthusian monastery gives a fascinating glimpse into medieval monastic life. The reconstructed monk’s cell shows how they lived in isolation. The gardens are beautiful and there’s a colony of stoats that visitors often spot. English Heritage members get in free.
