"Sofa was very soft ,but lodge was very well equipped ."
Alan - Apr 2025
"Our Meadows End Lodges review: Herdwick Lodge was everything we hoped for from the very positive reviews. In actual fact it is more spacious than the photographs portray. Fencing and hedging provide privacy for the hot tub.Very much enjoyed the hot tub, reassuring that it is attended to and checked daily by maintenance team."
Flicka - Apr 2025
"Lovely location, very peaceful site. Lodge was very clean, spacious and well equipped. A lot of thought has gone into the decor with matching cushions, light shades and blinds. Good solid wood furniture. Slept well in the comfy bed after a good day's walking and relaxing in the hot tub. If the weather's not good enough for the hot tub, The Herdwick has the biggest bath I've ever seen!"
Verified Guest - Apr 2025
"We loved the peaceful setting, its just perfect for relaxing. The lodge was spotless, spacious and had everything we needed. The decor was thoughtful, with matching cushions, shades and blinds that made it feel cosy. The solid wood furniture added a nice touch. After a long walk, the comfy bed was just what we needed and the hot tub was a real highlight! If the weathers not great, the bath is huge!"
Emma Carter - Apr 2025
"The Google pictures for this lodge aren't accurate and that is a different lodge. This review is for the Texel Lodge at pastures, meadows end, Cartmel.Set in a beautiful location. Little light pollution at night and super peaceful. The lodge is nice but it's showing signs of wear and tear. Hence the 4 star review. The hot tub is a little tired, the general accomodation could just do with a spruce up. However, it is still nice. The laid back approach of the staff is good,no hassle and not being bothered. The hot tub was serviced every day. It's a 10 minute walk into beautiful pictureque Cartmel village and a 10 minute drive to Grange Over Sands.Do not expect a signal here. I think that's a good thing though. Social media and electronic device detox."
PATRICK - Mar 2025
"Very clean, cosy lodge for two. The back bit with the hot tub was lovely and felt very private. Even though there are other lodges on site it was very quiet with lots of nature about. We saw birds, squirrels and deer every day while there. I would definitely recommend this as a romantic place for couples and wed definitely stay again."
Heather - Mar 2025
"We had a great stay at this cosy little lodge. It was spotless and super private, especially the back area with the hot tub - perfect for relaxing. Despite other lodges nearby, it was peaceful with plenty of wildlife around; we saw birds, squirrels and deer daily. Definitely a lovely spot for couples and wed come back in a heartbeat!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"First time in Herdwick Lodge after visiting Meadows End four times now. The lodge was amazing, spotlessly clean with all the essentials needed. Very spacious with 2 double bedrooms both ensuite and a well equipped kitchen. Log burner warms up the place nicely on the chilly evenings. Hot tub in a very private position and can be accessed easily from one of the bedrooms or main door, nice to sit in and stare at the stars. Of course you have Cartmel village within easy walking distance which we know and love so much now. Plenty choice of pubs and places to eat for a nice a lunch to evening meals and a takeaway sticky toffee pudding!! Coffee and Stays is a lovely place for a breakfast and I would highly recommend it. Cartmel and Meadows End is now our go to place and already pricing up for next year ????"
Kirsty - Mar 2025
"We recently stayed at Herdwick Lodge after visiting Meadows End four times and honestly, it didnt disappoint. The place was spotless and fully stocked with everything we needed. Its really spacious, with two double ensuite bedrooms and a kitchen thats well kitted out - made cooking a breeze. The log burner was perfect for chilly nights, adding a cosy vibe. The hot tub is tucked away in a super private spot and easy to reach from the bedroom or main door - sitting there, gazing at the stars, was such a treat. We love how close Cartmel village is; its just a short walk and offers loads of pubs and eateries, plus a takeaway sticky toffee pudding thats to die for! Also, Coffee and Stays is a gem for breakfast. Honestly, Cartmel and Meadows End have become our top choice and were already looking at dates for next year - cant wait!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"Excellent lodge, secluded, warm, and clean.Booked same lodge next year."
Stuart - Mar 2025
"Really enjoyed staying here, its cosy and very private too."
James - Mar 2025
"Overall, we had a pretty good stay. The bathroom, bedroom and kitchen were all spotless, which was great. The furniture was comfy and felt decent quality, not cheap rubbish. The hot tub was clean and warm-definitely a highlight. Only a couple of issues: the rug was a bit dirty and the hairdryer didnt work. The TV remote was a bit fiddly and the hoover was pretty naff. Still, wed recommend it!"
Jamie Carter - Feb 2025
"Only a couple of faults. Rug was dirty and the hairdryer didnt work. Bathroom spotless. Bedroom spotless. Kitchen spotless. Cooker and fridge spotless. Washing machine spotless. Cutlery and kettle and toaster spotless. Furniture comfy and not cheap rubbish. TV remote was a bit fussy. Hoover was naff. Hot tub was spotless and warm. Living area spotless, save the rug. Would recommend."
Darren Morris - Feb 2025
"Overall, we had a really lovely stay. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the mattress in the bedroom - quite firm! Still, its no biggie since we understand Hoseasons cant suit every preference. Were already planning to return!"
Claire Thomson - Jan 2025
"This was my familys second time staying at Meadows End. It's a beautiful spot and perfectly located for anyone/family looking to explore the Lake District. The lodge itself was very clean and well prepared for us. It was even stocked with some festive treats - a lovely surprise!! We do think this particular lodge is in need of some TLC (furniture quite worn & tired in living room) but this didnt take away from the wonderful time we had. Special thanks to the staff team at Meadow End - they were amazing and we appreciated the fab communication received from start to end."
Nichola - Dec 2024
"Weve stayed at Meadows End a couple of times now and honestly, its a lovely place to base yourself in the Lake District. The location is spot on for exploring and the lodge is always tidy and well-stocked when we arrive. We were really chuffed to find some festive treats waiting for us-such a nice touch! That said, the furniture in the living room could do with a bit of a refresh, as its showing signs of wear and tear. But honestly, it didnt spoil our trip at all. Big shoutout to the team at Meadow End-theyre really helpful and kept the communication flowing smoothly from start to finish. Well be back!"
Emma - Dec 2024
"We had an amazing time at Meadows End! The lodge was spotless and really well put together. Little things like the Christmas tree when we arrived made it extra special. The whole park is so tidy and peaceful, exactly what we needed to unwind. The staff were all really friendly and went out of their way to help us. Honestly, we loved our stay and are already looking forward to coming back for more relaxation. Definitely recommend!"
Matthews - Dec 2024
"Great lodge and location"
David - Dec 2024
"Quite enjoyed the stay"
James - Dec 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay here! The staff were friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome. The place itself was lovely - well definitely be coming back. Highly recommend it! Thanks for a great experience."
Emma - Dec 2024
"Weve stayed at Vendeen Lodge twice now and its always spotlessly clean. The beds and furniture are super comfy and theres plenty of hot water. The hot tub gets checked daily which is great. Despite lots of bookings, its so peaceful here. Wed definitely recommend!"
Emma - Dec 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. Its got pretty much everything you could need and the location is lovely. Windermere is just half an hour away and Grange over Sands is only about ten minutes, though its quite peaceful and small. Theres a charming little cafe there too. We're definitely planning to return sometime soon. Thanks a lot!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was perfect and Cartmel made it even more special! Great trip!"
James - Nov 2024
"Had a lovely relaxing holiday very quiet and private the only thing is the lodge is a little dated compared to others but this wouldn't stop me returning as it has everything else such as location privacy and peace"
Simon - Jul 2022
"fantastic could have left some cream to go with sticky toffee pudding"
Keith - Jul 2022
"Absolutely a lovely lodge, close to all amenities, and was good base to explore The Lakes"
Dawn - Jul 2022
"Beautiful lodge had everything we could of needed, clean, tidy and a great location"
Francesca - Jul 2022
"It's a beautiful location and we loved the lodge, although there are a few niggles but I think it's just wear and tear but nothing serious. It's well equipped and we had everything we needed. The weather was beautiful and we spent hours in the garden watching the beautiful birds drink from the water feature. We walked into Cartmel once but then the races were on and we decided to stay away from the crowds as we had our dog with us. The garden is not enclosed so perhaps be aware you will always need to watch over them while sitting outside. This wasn't a problem though and we are looking to return this year. Absolutely loved it."
Janet - Jul 2022
"We had a lovely holiday . The lodge was comfortable and had been equipped to a high standard . Hot tub was amazing . Sparkly and clean . The only thing I would have liked was a gate each end of decking to make a small area dog secure . We would book again in a heart beat . Thank you"
Philippa - Jul 2022
"The Lodges overall quite good. The set up of lodges was well thought out."
Brian - Jul 2022
"Amazing place and well maintained"
Deepika - Jul 2022
"Fantastic lodge, fantastic location. A cafe or shop on sight would be a bonus but overall no complaints. Already looking to book again for next year"

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Meadows End Lodges. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 7 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 8 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 9 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 17 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 24 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT
about 25 Miles
Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 35 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
