South West Scotland is renowned for its rugged coastline, quiet sandy beaches, forests, ancient castles and fabulous moorland. These pretty stone cottages are surrounded by beautiful and peaceful countryside, close to the town of Kirkcudbright with its Old Jail, Tolbooth Art Centre and MacLellan's Castle.

Nearby Galloway Forest Park is a 'Dark Sky' park - the inky black nights mean that over 7,000 stars and plants are visible with the naked eye so it's a fabulous place to go star-gazing. You can play nine holes of golf at Craigieknowes, and Laggan Outdoor, just a short distance away, has zip wires, archery, grass sledging, Segway, mountain boarding and clay pigeon shooting.

Galloway Cottages Reviews

"Great stay, highly recommend it!"
Emma Carter - Jan 2025
"We loved this cosy cottage! The space was generous, super clean and the hot tub was a real treat. Perfect location for exploring nearby towns. Can't wait to return!"
Jamie - Nov 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, definitely a place to revisit!"
Emma Carter - Oct 2024
"The cottage was spotless and the beds were super comfy, which we loved. Sadly, the kitchen utensils were quite poor - small pots and pans made cooking a pain. Still, we had a lovely time!"
Emma Clarke - Oct 2024
"Our Galloway Cottages review: Great place, felt like home, definitely coming back someday!"
Emma Carter - Oct 2024
"We've stayed here several times and honestly, its always a pleasure. The house is spotless when we arrive, which makes settling in so much easier. The staff are really friendly and always happy to help with any questions. The location feels a bit tucked away, but thats part of the charm - plenty to do within half an hours drive and theres usually something happening in the park too, with access included. Its consistently a lovely place to stay, no matter the season. We really hope to keep coming back for years to come!"
Martin - Sep 2024
"Absolutely loved it! The hot tub was perfect and the setting was stunning."
Michael - Sep 2024
"Really enjoyed the whole experience overall."
Rachel - Aug 2024
"We found the property to be really clean and surprisingly roomy, which was great. Most of the essentials were there, making our stay pretty hassle-free. The cutlery was enough for our group, but if the cottages were full, wed definitely need more. Maybe thats something the owners could think about for bigger groups."
Emma Carter - Jul 2024
"Really loved the place, just wish there was a towel rail inside! Great otherwise."
Emma Carter - Jul 2024
"Weve stayed here three times now and honestly, its such a lovely spot."
Emma - Jul 2024
"We had such a chilled holiday, the cottage was spotless and relaxing, especially with the hot tub view!"
Emma Carter - Jul 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, despite the weather not being perfect, we still had a brilliant time!"
Emma - Jul 2024
"We had such a lovely stay! The cottage really was top-notch - spotless and well-equipped with all the essentials like a dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer. The hot tub was a real highlight and we loved unwinding in it. If we could suggest one thing, itd be to reposition the cover so we could enjoy the sunset with a drink. Absolutely fantastic place!"
Lisa Carter - Jul 2024
"Really enjoyed the calm atmosphere here."
Emma - Jun 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the place was spotless and definitely worth the money spent. Well come back!"
Emma Carter - Jun 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay! The cottage was super clean, everything we needed was there and beds were comfy."
Emma Carter - Jun 2024
"The cottage was gorgeous, nestled in stunning surroundings. Felt really private and tranquil, like a proper home from home. Staff were lovely and helpful too. Will return!"
Emma Carter - Jun 2024
"We had such a lovely stay! The cottage was perfect and the hot tub was a bonus."
Harriet - Jun 2024
"Great spot, the cottage was spotless and had everything we needed, really felt like home. Cheers!"
Emma Clarke - Jun 2024
"The cottage was really lovely and spacious, perfect for relaxing. We loved the outdoor area, especially with our dog. The only minor thing was passing the neighbours windows to reach the hot tub, but its still private enough."
Emma - May 2024
"Good overall experience"
Jamie - May 2024
"Great stay, will definitely come again!"
Emma Carter - Apr 2024
"The cottage was fantastic-really spacious and well-equipped. We loved relaxing in the garden or soaking in the hot tub with the Irish Sea on one side and views of cows and horses in the fields. Absolutely loved it!"
Emma - Apr 2024
"Really happy with courtyard 2, we've been coming for four years now and plan to return!"
Alex Turner - Apr 2024
"We loved the spacious rooms and comfy beds, plus the towels for the hot tub were a real bonus. Such a peaceful, scenic spot too!"
Lucy Carter - Mar 2024
"We absolutely loved these cottages! The views are stunning and unwinding in the hot tub under the stars was pure bliss. The only thing is, its next to a busy road, so theres some traffic noise, but honestly, it didnt bother us much once inside the cottage. Highly recommend!"
Emma - Mar 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay! The place was spotless, staff lovely and the hot tub was well maintained. Can't wait to return!"
Emma Roberts - Feb 2024
"We really enjoyed the cottages cosy vibe and the comfy beds. The view from the patio and hot tub was lovely, even if its a bit overlooked by a caravan and a road. The place could do with more plates and cutlery though - having just one cup or plate doesnt quite cut it. Still, we had a great time overall!"
Emma S. - Feb 2024
"Cottage was excellent and looked recently refurbished. It was very clean and the hot tub too was well kept with staff tending to it every morning. The only suggestions I have would be hooks on the back of doors as the one at the front door was not big enough. A few more glasses in the cupboards would be better. The studs on the sofa were either missing or came off easily and they are sharp. Our 4 year old removed one easily. These are very small items and never worth a complaint. We all had a great time. One more comment would be that in the arcade/soft play area has the same tables and chairs that have been there for years. (Our 6th visit) and they are quite dirty and grubby. These could do with renewal. Other than these small issues it was all great and will be back again. Excellent grounds well maintained. Staff great. Aside from the cottage,we were put off going to the restaurant as the pictures advertising the food do not look great."
Elaine - Jul 2022
"Amazing family loved it"
Gerard - Jul 2022
"We loved staying at these cottages! Cottage was the ideal location for exploring nearby. The Rob Roy restaurant was the only downside, long wait to be seated even though we had a reservation and rude bar person when I asked. Apart from that. excellent stay and will definitely be back!"
Donna - Jul 2022
"Great cottage, great weather, great staff."
Elaine - Jun 2022
"The cottage was very clean and well presented, also as a nice touch there were complimentary biscuits and a disposable BBQ. The hot tub was filled up prompted and was always ready for use day or night. I can honestly say I will be back here again in the near future"
Jamie - Jun 2022
"The cottage was spotless for our arrival, excellent facilities & everything we needed for a luxurious stay Pods for the coffee machine & the dog treats were a lovely touch The hot tub was well used & checked daily by staff We had a problem with a leaky dishwasher, which was fixed the same day If we had any criticisms, it would be that we found the mattresses way too firm & uncomfortable & would suggest king size beds - the rooms are big enough My husband & son are both well over 6' & their feet were dangling over the end of a double The holiday park was great, we made use of the pool & gym You do have to pay extra but buying credits for these makes the cost reasonable The sports bar was great, good prices & lovely staff The food at the Rob n Roll was excellent, we had takeaway which was delivered to the cottage & went to the all you can eat Sunday roast We can't comment on the entertainment as this isn't our thing The onsite shop is well stocked & reasonably priced. There is a Sainsburys & Aldis in Newtown Stewart which is only a short drive away WiFi is free in the cottages & is reasonable - our son is 17 & it was reliable enough for him to play his PS5 most of the time We were incredibly fortunate with the weather & were able to spend time at the lovely private beach The climb up & down is pretty steep, we managed but it's certainly not suitable for anyone with mobility issues We had a fantastic week & would highly recommend a stay here We'll be booking the farmhouse & bringing more of the family with us next time"
