Amelia - Jul 2024
"Our Windmill Retreat review: Solid experience overall, no major complaints from us."
Chris - Jul 2024
"We had a few little hiccups at first, like no shower gel and a broken door handle, but the staff sorted everything out swiftly. The sofa was a bit on the firm side, but honestly, the location was stunning and the bed was super comfy! Loved the dressing gown and the coffee machine, plus the hamper was a lovely surprise. Also, the pub nearby served some cracking food. Would definitely go back!"
Oliver - Feb 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was super comfy and had everything we needed. Highly recommend it!"
Rachel - Jan 2024
"We had such a lovely time at Oak Lodge! The place really had everything we needed for a cosy Christmas break. The Christmas tree was a nice touch and made the place feel really festive. Its surprisingly spacious for a family of five, giving us plenty of room to relax and catch up. The hot tub was definitely a highlight - so bubbly and warm! Wed love to visit again outside the holiday season to try the spa and restaurant. Highly recommend!"
Emily Carter - Dec 2023
"Great stay overall, just a couple of small issues to note."
Harper - Nov 2023

Tom Harper - Jul 2020
"Great place, super comfy and spotless throughout, loved it!"
Alex - Jan 2020
"We stayed at this quirky upside-down house and really enjoyed it. The place was spotless and clearly well looked after. The robes for the hot tub were a lovely touch - made us feel special! Theres a small cafe on-site, which we grabbed lunch from when we arrived. The only thing we missed was a cafetiere and a teapot, but the coffee machine was handy enough. Overall, a great stay!"
Harriet - Oct 2019
"Really lovely stay with warm welcome and comfy rooms. Would definitely recommend, you wont regret it!"
Sam - Oct 2019
"Really enjoyed the stay, it was super chill and very comfortable."
Jessie - Sep 2019
"We absolutely love Windmill Retreat! Its such a chill spot where you can do everything at your own pace. The facilities are just right for a relaxing break and its close enough to places like Street, Glastonbury and Bridgwater if you want to explore. The Sail Loft is really cosy for two, with plenty of space and a lovely balcony. Well definitely be back for a third visit!"
Jamie - Jun 2019
"We had an absolutely lovely stay from start to finish and theres quite a bit to share! Firstly, a shoutout to David (hope I got his name right) who greeted us warmly and gave us a thorough tour of the place. Little touches like having milk, tea, coffee and some goodies from the local bakery really made us feel welcome. The site was easy enough to find with satnav, but we did agree that a bigger sign outside and better lighting at night would be helpful - we nearly drove past a couple of times because its quite easy to miss in the dark. The rooms were spotless, beds comfy and the fluffy robes and towels were a nice touch. Sure, there were a few bits of chipped paint here and there, but honestly, thats just normal wear and tear. The kitchen was well-equipped for a group, although Id suggest adding some trivets or hot pads - I was a bit worried about damaging the worktops when handling hot pans. Thanks for including enough cleaning supplies - thats not always the case in other places weve stayed. One thing we did struggle with was finding somewhere to recycle or dispose of waste properly. We managed with a spare box, but itd be great if there was a designated recycling bin on-site. We didnt realise there was a small cafe on the premises either, which was a shame because it wouldve been perfect for breakfast. We might have used it if wed known! The onsite spa smelled divine but was a bit pricey at £39 without a treatment, so we didnt indulge. I imagine the treatments are worth it, though. We also visited The George pub in the village for dinner - only a 10-minute walk - and it was fantastic, with reasonable prices and good food. Our favourite part was the hot tub, though we all agreed it lacked a bit of privacy. A simple bamboo fence at the end of the garden would work wonders for that. Overall, we had a lovely trip and would definitely consider coming back!"
Alexandra - Sep 2018
"Great peaceful spot, but youll need to drive for decent food and supplies. Worth it!"
Daniel - Jul 2018
"Comfortable stay, would recommend it."
Marcus - Jul 2018
"Really enjoyed our visit, will be back soon!"
George - Apr 2017
"2nd time at Windmill Retreat, and was just as great as the first time. Fabulous spa and cafe on site too. Lovely walks locally, peaceful location."
Natalie - Jul 2022
"Very relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings"
Sharon - Jul 2022
"A wonderful bolt hole for ultimate relaxation. The accommodation is of a very high standard and includes everything you need. The welcome treats are an excellent touch (the lemon drizzle was yummy) and the staff are extremely friendly. I came away feeling calm and relaxed. I’ll be back."
Nicola - Jul 2022
"Absolutely loved my stay at windmill retreat, celebrating my hen do here was exactly what I thought it was going to be. The spa on the retreat was lovely relaxing and definitely worth the money. Was peaceful, relaxing And thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Will be coming back again!"
Keeley - Jul 2022
"Beautiful lodge in tranquil surroundings, not too far from towns and tourist spots but far enough away to enjoy the quiet of the countryside."
Lucy - Jul 2022
"Beautiful apartment, very clean and homely, very comfortable beds and very peaceful stay."
Andrea - Jul 2022
"Just back from a long weekend, we did pay for a travel cot and high chair which wasn’t in the cottage when we arrived but we went to the spa and they called someone who quickly sorted. Cottage was lovely, lots of space and outdoor space. For anyone who hasn’t done anything like this before remember to pack, toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets, salt, hand wash (I expected them to have some in the kitchen). Maybe a sharp knife they were all blunt and we really struggled to cut anything. Also a very sensitive smoke alarm, unless it was just our cooking :) Check out at 9am was so early when you have 3 families and kids to organise. All in all we had a lovely stay would recommend."
Linda - Jun 2022
"We have stayed at Millers Rest since 2018 and have enjoyed our stay , everything very clean and everyone helpful and friendly we have already booked for next year. When you find somewhere that you like keep going back."
Jean - Jun 2022
"Good location for getting around but you do need a car. We didn’t use the spa or the on-site restaurant but understand that both are very good."
Susan - Jun 2022
"Excellent lodge with everything you could need for a weekend stay. We especially loved the hot tub. Quiet and peaceful surroundings. We enjoyed the lovely welcome pack and using the excellent kitchen facilities. Would love to stay here again."
Samantha - Jun 2022
"We stayed here the night before a wedding as the bridal party and the Bride and Groom then stayed at the lodge the night of the wedding. The staff were really helpful and the lodge was lovely. Everything was really clean and modern. There are more than enough towels, robes and crockery provided. It was a nice and easy check-in process, the hot tub, showers and other facilities were lovely. Would highly recommend. Beautiful lodge."
Emily - Jun 2022
"Clean, so quiet, beautiful, hot tub fab, the weather was good made the holiday complete. Went for breakfast at the levels kitchen before leaving excellent well worth it. All in all a brilliant place to stay"
