About Heathside Lodges

Heathside Lodges in Suffolk will appeal to those looking for a peaceful base to explore the local area.  With a secluded setting these lodges have much to offer couples and families wanting a restful holiday but close enough to local towns should you want to get out and explore.

The market towns of Southwold, Aldeburgh and Walberswick are within reach for days out with a range of shops and restaurants.

The accommodation has been well designed and we like the Blyth Lodge for couples which sleeps 2 and comes with a private outdoor hot tub.  This lovely lodge also has mod cons including wifi access and flatscreen TV with freeview.  The spacious living area is ideal for relaxing and the french doors leading to the private decking are a nice touch.

The Waveney Lodge is slightly larger and sleeps 4 making it a good choice for both couples and families.  This lodge is sure to be popular with a spacious open plan living area, private decking and outdoor hot tub.  All of the lodges are also double glazed making them a cosy choice even in the colder months. And of course the outdoor hot tub can be enjoyed in all weathers - even snow!

The Deben Lodge is the largest of the lodges.  Sleeping 6 adults this is a spacious lodge with two double bedrooms and one twin.  One of the doubles has an en suite bathroom and there is also a family bathroom within the lodge.  With plenty of mod cons including microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer the Deben Lodge provides a comfortable base for your stay.  You will also enjoy use of your own private outdoor hot tub, as well as a balcony with patio furniture.

The local area is perfect for exploring. Some recommended days out include the Suffolk Odyssey Llamas in Halesworth less than 3 miles from the lodges, and Africa Alive in Lowestoft less than 10 miles away.

Heathside Lodges Reviews

"Perfect break. Spacious and comfortable lodge with all that you need. Beautiful surroundings and so peaceful. Lots of space for kids to run around. Definitely recommend and will definitely be back. Only comment is early check out if that could be pushed back an hour"
Verified Guest - Apr 2025
"Such a lovely 4 nights spent here with my husband and two sons (7,4). The lodge was perfect for what we needed. It was close by to lots of lovely towns to explore. The hot tub was really enjoyed by us all. The hosts were very good. I had a bad back and they were quick to supply a mattress topper that provided extra comfort. The grounds of the lodges are an added bonus. It has a shop on site, a climbing frame, football goals & table tennis. All of this is hidden behind nature so it doesnt spoil the lovely views of the land and little marshland. We will be returning."
Hayley - Apr 2025
"The cabin was lovely a few cobwebs up high but otherwise very clean. The hot tub was very clean and very enjoyable, I love how they have the bushes around so you get privacy but still feel spacious. No issues with Internet. I found some of the furniture could be updated, everything worked perfectly but could do with updating. I'm tall and found the sofa to be too low. The staff were lovely, when I asked for recommendations on outings, I got asked didn't I Google it. After explaining I like to talk to people and ask the locals the lady was helpful and assisted me with getting some leaflets. Some of the locals recommended driving to Great Yarmouth which is about a 45min drive away for more things to do. It was a lovely and relaxing getaway and I will definitely be returning. The welcome pack was very helpful with local pubs and restaurants. The location is lovely, easy to get to but be prepared to drive 20 mins plus to get to different places. There are a lot of walking trails around the site. The locals In the nearest town were lovely and the Wednesday market is small but had some amazing people and products. I defo recommend Africa Alive!!"

"Our Heathside Lodges review: Lovely lodge, excellent value."
Verified Guest - Apr 2025
"Our accommodation was spotlessly clean and surprisingly very spacious, far bigger than the photos suggest. It was equipped with everything you could need a d the towels and bedding were good quality too.The hot-tub was a real treat but it was also lovely to sit on the decking to have a morning cuppa and enjoy the sunshine a peace and quiet first thing."
Fiona - Apr 2025
"We really enjoyed our stay! The place was spotless and way bigger than the pictures showed, which was a nice surprise. Everything we needed was there and the quality of the towels and bedding was great. The hot tub was a real highlight, but we also loved sitting on the decking in the morning, soaking up the sun in peace and quiet. Brilliant!"
Emma - Apr 2025
"Wonderful lodge. Very clean, well equipped accommodation. Hot tub was a lovely bonus after long walks!"
Verified Guest - Apr 2025
"Clean and airy. Nice location with lovely views. Short woodland walk also on the site. Shop on site was particularly handy. Friendly staff. Much appreciated privacy with the high laurel hedges especially when using the hot tub. The hot tub was maintained every day and, as someone with slight mobility issues, it was perfect for me being slightly raised from the decking instead of a deck level one. The beds were so comfortable with beautiful Egyptian cotton bed linen and great pillows. Looking forward to going back again"
Rosie - Apr 2025
"We found the place lovely and bright, with such a peaceful vibe. The location was spot on, offering gorgeous views and a lovely walk through the woods right on the site. The shop was super handy and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. We especially appreciated the privacy from the high laurel hedges, perfect for relaxing in the hot tub. It was well maintained daily and being slightly raised made it easier for us. The beds were dreamy, with crisp Egyptian cotton and comfy pillows. Cant wait to return!"
Jessie - Apr 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay here, the place was spotless and had everything we needed. The hot tub was ace after walking all day!"
Emma Clarke - Apr 2025
"We recently stayed here for four days and honestly, it was just what we needed - so peaceful and quiet, exactly as we wanted. The staff were genuinely friendly and made us feel really welcome from the start. The lodge itself was spotlessly clean and super spacious, with everything we could ask for. The hot tub was definitely a highlight, perfect for unwinding after a long day. There isnt much around for walking, aside from a pub about ten minutes up the road, but its a bit pricey and not the friendliest place. We didnt mind though, as we drove to nearby towns and coastal spots, with Aldi and Morrisons about 25 minutes away. Plenty of places to eat that dont break the bank too. The onsite shop had all the essentials, which was handy. Wed happily return and definitely recommend it if youre after a chilled, relaxing break."
Emma Clarke - Mar 2025
"We stayed here for 4 days and we loved it, was very quite and peaceful which is what we wanted. The staff was very friendly and made you welcome. The on-site shop has all the essentials you need. Not much around for walking distance but we didn't mind that, there was a pub just up the road 10mins walk but it was expensive and not very friendly. You can drive out to several nearby towns or coastal resorts, Aldi, Morrisons, and more are all around 25-min drive. Also lots of places you could eat out at and reasonable prices. The lodge was lovely, everything we needed was there, very spacious and clean, the hot tub was a bonus to relax in at the end of our day. We would definitely come back and would recommend if your looking for a quite relaxing time."
Tracy-ann - Mar 2025
"Really enjoyed the lodge has everything you needed and its nice to be away from everything but still close to place to go Hot tub is great and just outsider back door on deck so not far to go in when finished. Also provide dressing gown and extra towels for when using the hot tub which is great so dont have to use your other towels. The only draw back is the check outs are early at 9am on the day you leave but part from that everything is great and staff are very helpful always there if need to ask any questions this our second time coming we will definitely be going again next year"
Aimee - Mar 2025
"We had a really lovely stay at the lodge. Its perfectly tucked away, giving us that peaceful escape we were after, yet still close enough to explore nearby spots. The hot tub was a real highlight, especially since its just outside the back door-no long walk needed after a day out. We appreciated the thoughtful touches like the dressing gown and extra towels, which made using the hot tub so much easier. The only slight downside was the early check-out at 9am, but honestly, it didnt spoil our trip. The staff were super friendly and always happy to help. This is our second visit and definitely not our last, cant wait to come back next year!"
Ellie - Mar 2025
"We had a lovely stay at Blythe Lodge! The place was spotless and welcoming, though a softer mattress would have made it perfect for us."
Emma Carter - Mar 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay, peaceful location but close to everything we needed."
Emma Carter - Mar 2025
"We recently stayed for a quick weekend getaway to celebrate our daughters birthday and honestly, it was fantastic from start to finish. The lodge was spotless when we arrived, with all the essentials like tea, coffee and milk already provided - such a nice touch. The hot tub was ready to go and we appreciated the regular checks by the staff to keep everything safe. The setting was just perfect-so peaceful and scenic, it really helped us unwind. We had such a lovely time and honestly, were already planning our next visit! Cant recommend it enough for a relaxing break."
Emily Carter - Mar 2025
"We stayed at this lodge recently and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The place was spotlessly clean and warmer than we expected, which was lovely. The beds were comfy enough for a good night's sleep and the en-suite was quite nice. The hot tub, while a bit outdated and not fully functional-jets were slow and no bubbles-still added to the fun. The only real downsides were the old TVs and chipped kitchenware; if youre planning to cook, bringing your own knives and chopping boards might be a good idea. Despite these little niggles, wed happily return. We really enjoyed our time!"
Emma - Feb 2025
"Second time in this lodge. Well equipped, spotlessly clean inside, outside on decking area, and hot tub. Warm and comfortable stay."
Melanie - Feb 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay here! The lodge was super cosy, spotless and the hot tub was a lovely extra. Will definitely return."
Emma - Feb 2025
"The lodge had everything we needed and it was super spacious and spotless. We loved it!"
Harper - Feb 2025
"The beds okay, but honestly, it needs a new mattress soon enough."
Emma Clarke - Jan 2025
"Heathside Lodges is our go-to place since 2016, never letting us down. The lodges are always spotless, super warm and cosy, plus the hot tub is a real treat. We adore exploring Southwold nearby. Can't wait to return again soon!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"We stayed here for Christmas 2024The lodge was well equipped and was very clean. We had such a lovely stay. The hot tub was well maintained and was wonderful. We will certainly be returning."
Joanna - Dec 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was comfortable with all the essentials and the hot tub was the perfect way to relax after a day out."
Alex - Dec 2024
"Our Christmas stay at this lodge was fantastic! The place was spotless and had everything we needed. The hot tub was a real highlight-so relaxing. We definitely plan to come back again soon!"
Emma - Dec 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was lovely and very clean overall. The welcome was warm and friendly, which made us feel right at home. The space inside was perfect for us, plenty of room to relax. Only downside was some mould on the windows, which was a bit disappointing. Otherwise, it was a great experience and we'd definitely come back again."
Rachel Dawson - Dec 2024
"If the hot tub was bigger its perfect"
Jane - Nov 2024
"We had another lovely stay at Heathside Lodges. The place is spacious, cosy and the hot tub was just perfect after a day out. The kitchen had everything we needed and Southwold nearby made it even better. Well definitely come back!"
Mark - Nov 2024
"I stayed with 2 adults and 3children aged 16 - 2 years. The lodge was beautiful, clean and fully equipped. Hot tub was always clean and heated perfectly. Plenty of towels and pillows even a board game to pass the time. We had a BBQ too. The shop was conveniently on site and fully stocked. All the staff were very helpful and polite. We had a fantastic time and would definitely book to stay here again."
Tiffany - Aug 2022
"Very good location for walks. There was a large field for children to play on."
Paul - Jul 2022
"Great location with only a 10 minute walk to the local friendly pub (20 on the way back after a few beers) serving amazing food and lovely staff and locals who made you feel very welcome The lodge itself was lovely inside with everything we needed. The exterior was a bit shabby and could do with a lick of paint. The hot tub was disappointing as on arrival we opened it and there appeared to be some sort of red drink spilt round the edge and some hairs in the tub. This had clearly not been cleaned after the last guests. The lid of the tub was also in poor condition with rips and tears and the handle broken. On the whole was a lovely break just a shame about the hot tub."
Heather - Jul 2022
"This is our 2nd visit to heathside lodges and it did not disappoint. The site is immaculate we have never been to a site which is so well maintained. All the staff onsite are friendly and approachable and nothing is too much trouble, the on-site shop is well stocked and reasonably priced. The lodge itself was spotless it had everything you would need with the added bonus of a hot tub which was clean and private. We will be going again"
Donna - Jul 2022
"Great location on a rural site ideally situated 10 mins from Southwold and the coast The site wad very well kept and shrub and tree planting ensured privacy to each plot. The staff and owners were all courteous and helpful Overall an excellent place to stay Highly Great location on a rural site ideally situated 10 mins from Southwold and the coast. Very peaceful and quiet"

Attractions Near Heathside Lodges

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Heathside Lodges. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 9 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park - NR32 4TZ
about 14 Miles
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX
about 19 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 23 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 27 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 31 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 32 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Ickworth House, Park & Gardens - IP29 5QE
about 38 Miles
The National Trust Ickworth House, Park & Gardens is a Beautiful 1800 acre country estate with many attractions including a fantastic adventure playground for the children and a range of nature trails which the whole family will enjoy. The site also has a family friendly cycle route a gift shop and a small café
