Clowance Reviews

"Very spacious and modern lodge much much bigger than a caravan. Hot tub huge and very warm. This was serviced daily. The windows and stuff and decking was cleaned while we were.Lots of huge bath towels in the lodge. Ample seating in the living room and a big dining table. Only thing to note is that the blinds arnet black out. Which wasnt a problem for me but was for our baby. We saw another lodge putting tin foil on the windows. Lodge looked out onto lots of green space. We saw lots of wildlife at night from the hot tub"

"The pool was closed which was disappointing"
Melissa - May 2025
"We had such a great weekend at this place! The location was perfect for what we needed and the house was comfy and welcoming. Our dogs really enjoyed the garden, especially the underfloor heating - it kept them cosy. Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it, but honestly, everyone left happy and relaxed. Well definitely be coming back!"
Michael - May 2025
"Lodge has all the modern conveniences you would ever need and was very clean inside which was much appreciated. Improvements necessary:- Toilet seats are worn out and the lids won't close, ensuite bed is worn out and needs replacing and the outside sofa was very dirty, covered in dog hairs and bird droppings, would be nice if it was cleaned. Please make the necessary improvements and we'll visit again. Thanks."
Glyn - Apr 2025
"Our Clowance review: We had such a lovely stay at this cosy place tucked away in a peaceful spot. The owners were super friendly and always ready to help if needed, but it still felt private enough to relax completely. The hot tub was a real treat after our cycle rides! A heads up, though - the cottage is right under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much after a while, but its worth knowing if youre sensitive to noise. Overall, a really nice break!"
Rajiv - Apr 2025
"We had a lovely stay at the cottage. Perfect spot for us, peaceful and away from the busy crowds. The hot tub was definitely a highlight! Owners were really helpful without being intrusive. They've got it just right!"
Luke - Apr 2025
"We loved the stunning views from the woodland cottage, its really peaceful. The facilities were good, though we missed having a full-length mirror in the three-bed. No coat hooks by the door, but everyone was super helpful. Debbie's massage at Clowance Spa was fantastic!"
Sarah - Mar 2025
"Lovely views from our woodland cottage Could have done with full length mirror in a 3 bed? And no coat hooks by door but facilities good and everyone very helpful Massage by Debbie in Clowance Spa was excellent"
Monica - Mar 2025
"We loved the lodge! Plenty of room for the family and it had everything we needed for a chilled-out holiday. Highly recommended!"
Emily - Mar 2025
"Lovely lodge. Plenty of space for 4 adults and 2 children. Everything you need for a relaxing break. Would highly recommend."
Lisa - Mar 2025
"We had a really lovely stay here! The location is quite private and super pretty, perfect for a peaceful getaway. The owners are genuinely friendly and always willing to help if needed, without intruding on your space. The hot tub was a real highlight after a long day of cycling - absolute bliss! One thing to keep in mind is that the cottage is right under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but might be a factor if you're sensitive to sound. Still, wed definitely come back!"
Ruthie Carter - Jan 2025
"Really enjoyed the walk, the dogs loved it and the scenery was absolutely lovely too!"
Ellie - Jan 2025
"The cabin was really cosy and spotless. Loved the big decking at the front, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the lovely views of trees and fields. We had a great stay!"
Jessie - Jan 2025
"Accommodation was a single storey cabin with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Spacious and clean. Decking area to front providing seating overlooking trees and field."
Babs - Jan 2025
"Lodge very clean and comfortable and nicely equipped for a short break. Kitchen decor slightly tired with some kitchen cupboard doors peeling, but overall a lovely large family space to stay!"
Leanne - Jan 2025
"The house exceeded my expectation. I will book this property again.A few things however that i struggled with1. we could not watch TV as it was analog and did not suit the functions we wanted2. the sofa was worn and very low thus I sat mostly on the dining and on my bed3. The master suit was dark it needs some kore lighting especially at the dressing table4. There was no charging socket near the bed, and the only 2 that were in the room had a TV an its box, which had to be disconnected if use needed. We are coming to stay in this lodge again on summer but we will appreciate if these little discomforts were addressed."

"We had an amazing stay at Clowance! The lodges are stunning, very cosy and super clean, with all the latest gadgets. The grounds are so peaceful, perfect for relaxing. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We didnt try the spa or restaurant, but they looked lovely. Well definitely be coming back and already told family about it!"
Harriet - Nov 2024
"One of the most peaceful holidays I have ever had. The grounds are beautiful and the lodges really are luxury. Very clean , homey, with top of the range fixtures, fittings and appliances. The staff are friendly and helpful. We didnt use the spa or restaurant, but both looked lovely. Would definitely return and have already recommended Clowance to family and friends."
Colette - Nov 2024
"We had an amazing stay at this cosy cottage. The hot tub and log burner made it extra special. Hosts were lovely, very welcoming. Hope to come back soon!"
Lucy - Nov 2024
"The place was stunning, honestly. Only thing was the beds-they're quite low, which was a bit tricky at first. Once we were in, it was all good, just a bit of a struggle to get out!"
Claire - Oct 2024
"Really enjoyed our visit, definitely coming back. Next time, though, summer would be perfect! Definitely recommend."
Jamie - Aug 2024
"The cottage was lovely, situated in a calm, beautiful spot. We enjoyed watching the horses and loved how peaceful everything was. The owners were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Its a perfect place if youre after a quiet, relaxing getaway. Wed definitely go back!"
Sophie - Jun 2024
"We had a lovely stay at this cottage tucked away on a working farm and honestly, it felt super private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are such lovely people - really friendly and welcoming. The place itself is huge, with a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom and the bed is super comfy! The gardens perfect for dogs, totally secluded and with nice furniture. There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxteds eateries like The Star and The Maypole are worth a visit. Wed definitely recommend it!"
Jonathan - May 2024
"Honestly, I wasnt expecting much, but the lodge totally blew me away! The space was fantastic-so much room to relax. The bed was comfy and it was well-equipped. Definitely converting from caravans to lodges after this trip. Lovely experience!"
Fiona - Apr 2024
"We really enjoyed staying here. The cottages peaceful spot suited us perfectly and the hot tub was a real treat. Owners were friendly without being pushy at all!"
George - Feb 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the place had everything needed."
Laura - Jan 2024
"We recently stayed at Maplewyn and were really pleased with the whole experience. Upgraded to Finn lodge, which was a lovely surprise and the hot tub was such a treat! The place was spotless, spacious and felt really cosy. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful throughout. Perfect for celebrating special moments-thanks a lot!"
Maplewyn - Jan 2024
"Great experience, staff was super friendly and very helpful too."
Oliver Carter - Jan 2024
"We had a fantastic time celebrating my wife's 50th at Clowance. The experience truly exceeded our expectations and were already planning our next visit. My only gripe is the recent price increase for the lodge if you want to book now, which feels a bit steep."
David - Dec 2023
"Fantastic and relaxing sty in such a peaceful setting.let down by 2 things: golf course shut, when it had been advertised when we booked and the lodge we were is a little frayed at the edges. They didn’t detract from our enjoyment but took away from the polish when compared to the rest of the venue."
Ivor - Jul 2022
"Superb surroundings and settings. Exceptional lodge that was one of the cleanest I’ve stayed in. Staff on the resort were amazing. The restaurant was also top quality. It’s a bit on the expensive side, but, you get the quality you pay for."
Anthony - Jul 2022
"Absolutely fantastic place to stay. We stayed in the treehouse which was just amazing! Location was so central for days out. Would love to return and stay longer as there is so much to do and see! Highly recommend"
Laura - Jun 2022
"We had a fabulous stay , our lodge was amazing very clean bright and airy - a great design. Our wonderful meal in the restaurant on site offered local produce superbly cooked , the very friendly & knowledgeable staff added to our delightful evening. My only minus was the spa pool was too cold but the Jacuzzi was great."
Keith - Jun 2022
"All staff are polite, helpful and friendly. Restaurant food was fantastic experience"
Ashley - Jun 2022
"The location was a great mix of being peaceful and calm but still close enough to popular tourist hot spots for visiting. We had a great stay but did struggle with signal so the texts we were receiving from reception didn’t come through until we’d left the estate. We loved the lodge and hot tub and we loved walking around the estate feeding the birds and seeing the lake. The pool was fab and the changing facilities were clean. We’d love to come back in future."
Aimee - Apr 2022
"Staff aleays helpful and polite. Location is great."
Dan - Apr 2022
"Woodland lodge- Group of 8 Pro: Beautiful grounds, well equipped lodge, friendly staff, good restaurant and sports activities. Con: 24hr reception not contactable out of hours."
Chung - Apr 2022
"We enjoyed our stay. We were comfortable and enjoyed the hot tub. The only criticism would be lack of a mirror (outside of the bathroom one) had to style hair without a mirror. But everything else was great! Can’t wait to come back again!"
