Where's Athelington Hall Farm Lodges?
Excellent lodge, high standard. Quiet site in beautiful surroundings, definitely somewhere to go again.

Date of stay: 1st March 2019
We left Any a note of a couple of problems we had with the lodge and a suggestion of supplying robes, like other lodges, we have visited in the past.

Date of stay: 18th February 2019
Had a lovely time as ever at Athelington Hall. The perfect place for a quiet break.

There aren't any shops, bars or entertainment facilities on-site, as it's a working farm. But you can buy local bacon, eggs and sausages from the honesty fridge in the office.

They do have a games room though and climbing frames and trampolenes etc for children.

Their lodges are spotless and come with everything you need for your break, a real home-from-home. They even provide teatowels and cleaning products, plus the basics, so you can have a cup of tea or coffee as soon as you get there.

Their hot tubs are maintained and checked almost daily. Very clean and sheltered. Although I stayed in smaller lodge this time with just a hot tub, they also have larger lodges with saunas in the bathroom too, which are amazing. We go there mainly for early Spring and Autumn breaks.
Victoria, Portsmouth
Date of stay: 15th February 2019
Myself, my husband and my friends had a lovely time. There was an issue with our hot tub filter meaning that it wouldnt heat. It got so cold that we couldnt use it for a day and night. We were offered the use of another hot tub a few lodges up. The staff were friendly and very helpful. This is in the middle of nowhere, its pieceful however, if you want to venture out you have to drive 30mins to an hour to get anywhere.

Lovely lodge, quiet and secluded location. Lodge was clean and comfortable, staff friendly and welcoming. My only criticism was the hot tub was viewable to people walking by, a bit more privacy is needed. But otherwise if you are looking for peace and relaxation I thoroughly recommend

Date of stay: 20th October 2017
Everything about our stay was brilliant, especially the hot tub and the peacefulness.

The sofas were a little tired compared to the rest of the lodge but were still comfy.

The beds were very comfy, I don't usually sleep when I am away but had no problem here.

It was great to have a bath in the main bathroom and an ensuite shower in the master bedroom.

I wasn't expecting any facilities at all but there was a nice games room with table tennis, air hockey, darts etc.

We all loved our stay, and it was great that the dog could run close to the lodge.

Richard, Surrey
Date of stay: 17th March 2017
Almost perfect. One of the sofas was lumpy but since there were two it didn't matter.
A really silly thing was that the plates provided were too large to go into the dishwasher, but that didn't matter at all. Really excellent overall.
Date of stay: 27th January 2017
Lodge was really well equipped with everything you need. Central heating worked extremely well. The location is set away for a peaceful break but within driving distance of shops and pubs.

I stayed in Cedar lodge and can happily say I was pleasantly surprised when I first walked in. This really was the ideal get away.

I switched my mobile off and enjoyed 3 nights of peace and tranquillity. Laying in the hot tub looking up the huge sky full of stars was amazing, then out into the cold and walk into the sauna!

Cant wait to go back.

Excellent holiday home, very clean and looked like a show home when we first arrived. Very enjoyable and would like to return again in the future.
Louise, Dartford
Date of stay: 31st July 2015
Lodge was lovely, furniture and fittings looked great. Only downside was the number of wasps, it wasn't very sunny when we stayed so we didn't need to keep the french doors open but as soon as we opened a window the wasps came in,I dread to think what it would be like in the warm weather with the doors open, that was the only criticism but fine if you don't mind wasps!
Derek, Sunderland
Date of stay: 17th July 2015
The lodge was comfortable, clean, and tidy and no complaints as I've paid more for less in the past.

A return leg on the fencing beside the hot tub would give a little privacy from the road.
Karyn, Lancashire

Date of stay: 15th June 2015
Fantastic relaxing break away!!!
Date of stay: 8th June 2015
We really enjoyed our stay at Athelington Hall Farm. The hot tub was the largest I've been in and there were printed menus for local restaurants which meant we could make a really informed decision about where to go. I also loved the positioning of the hot tub as you can easily be completely private. Some people commented that having no covering on it isn't great in rainy weather, we loved it though as it means you can lie in it and look straight up at the stars which is really magical! A couple of small improvements: windows were a bit dirty and one towel each isn't really enough as you need a separate one for hot tub and shower because of the chlorine. Our quilt cover wasn't in great shape either, all ripped down one side and half of another, looked like it had needed to be replaced for a while. Tip: take some food with you if you don't want to eat out all the time as take away isn't great in the area, everything is very far away apart from a cash-only chinese which is fine. Overall, I would stay again as the lodge was beautifully laid out and we had a wonderful time.
Date of stay: 8th June 2015
Great holiday
Barbara, Essex
Date of stay: 5th June 2015
We enjoyed our stay at athelington elite 2 very much it was home from home, with every comfort you could need. The hot tub was amazing and we made good use of it. Very clean accommodation. We did not realize however how remote it was, but we enjoyed the walks with the dog very much. The farm dogs became a bit of a nuisance every day, barking and annoying our dog, however would definitely go back.
Samantha, London/hackney

Ash where we stayed was lovely, extremely clean and tidy, with all the utensils, fixtures and equipment we could need. Had a lovely view over the fields being the last cabin. And the hot tub will be sorely missed each evening.

Location and the interior of the lodge were good, as shown above, but the hot tub wasn't as good as others we have had. The cover didnt fit properly and one half sagged, and it took ages to heat up after arrival. Also one set of patio doors were broken( tied up with a curtain tie). Carpets were badly stained also.

the shelf inside the fridge door had broken off and we had to move the salad boxes so we could put a 2 pint milk carton in the fridge. the hot tub didn't work on one side until my husband fiddled about with the vents and although we were told to go to the farm house if we would like to purchase and pork sausages etc, when we went there we couldn't find anyone around apart from the dogs.

Apart from heat damaged cupboards in the kitchen (which caused sharp edges) the lodge was lovely. A gate would have been good at the top of the decking but we compromised with put chairs across it. The lodge was comfortable, warm and clean and the setting was superb.

Lodge was very comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. One small observation is with new curtains the lodge would be transformed as very old and tired looking, but didn't affect our holiday.

We actually upgraded to Elite 2 so review is for that and can't comment on Elite 1. I assume this would be of an equal standard.

All the accommodation needed was a nest of table for drinks and such when using Sofa's as when using the sofa bed the coffee table needed to be moved to an area which was unstable.

O and a cloths horse for drying cloths / swim ware from using the hot tub.

Very clean comfortable for two. Sauna great along with Hot tub. Slight problem with Wifi the cabin was at the end of the booster range but if we had been closer I am sure it would have been fine. Owners friendly and sausages tasty.

Amazing accommodation!! Loved it! Perfect mini moon!!
Fantastic weekend. Accommodation clean and tidy and such a lovely location
Good place. Enjoyed it. Would have been perfect if it didn't rain the whole time.
We had a wonderful peaceful time in the middle of no where which is what we were after. WiFi in the Lodges would have made the holiday perfect and communicating with love ones at home or downloading a movie to watch was impossible.
Had a long weekend with a group of friends. Really impressed with the lodges. Well kitted out and the hot tub was amazing. Walks to do close by but need a car to get to other things. Great for a chilled out break 😊
Lovely clean lodges and hot tub a bonus ! Area beautiful and remote . Shame games room was a little shabby .. but everything else perfect !
We had a lovely long weekend at Athelington Hall farm lodges, the hot tub was great, lodges were lovely and clean, we will definitely return.
Wonderful place to stay nice and relaxing
Loved it. Very quiet. Hot tub and lodge perfect and great value for a mini break. Not much to actual do on site other than lovely walks, relaxing a peace and quiet. Trying to rebook already but all full ( not surprised)
We stayed in the Oak original lodge. It was very clean and warm and the hot tub was lovely. We used to stay in the Forest Holiday lodges but they have really put up the prices, so we chose this and glad we did. Knocked off 1 star because the games room could do with a bit of tlc. The sofa bed looked brand new and was comfy. Central heating worked well. Yes, the Forest Holiday lodges are bigger and plusher but they are almost twice the price. These lodges are excellent value and are family friendly. I would definitely return.

It was mine and my partners first holiday together and it was just perfect from start to finish. The staff were so helpful, the games room was fun and the hot tub was just amazing! The location was stunning. The lodge itself was lovely and we really cannot wait to come again. We could not rate this holiday more highly!
The lodge was super comfy and all we needed was provided

Fun Days Out near Athelington Hall Farm Lodges

This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.

Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.

We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.

This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.

Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.

This is a museum with a difference and a must see if you are into horse racing.  You can take guided tours around the museum or choose to wander round yourself admiring the exhibits.  New for 2010 is a Junior Fun Tour which is ideal for children.  Simply ask the gallery staff for a Fun Tour pack when you enter the museum and kids can answer questions and spot clues and tips on the way round.  One of the most popular recent exhibitions is the Thoroughbred: State of the Art exhibition in Gallery 5 on until 31st October.  Check out their websites for the latest exhibitions.
