Exmouth is a diverse and picturesque seaside town offering the perfect quintessential British holiday. Whether holidaymakers are wanting to relax, have a more active holiday, or learn more about the history of this traditional seaside resort, Exmouth has it all!  Looking for a lodge with a hot tub or a traditional holiday home, we’ve been searching out the best options for hot tub breaks in Exmouth.

Hot Tub Holidays in Exmouth

Out and about

Exmouth is located where the River Exe flows into the English Channel, framing the town with a fantastic view of the coast. The two-mile long Exmouth Beach is perfect for a beach day when the sun is shining. This is the longest seafront in Devon and Cornwall, meaning sufficient space to relax is guaranteed. In east Exmouth, Sandy Bay Beach is a fantastic windsurfing spot. This area of the coast also has a clifftop walk, where there are striking views of the Channel.

A half-an-hour walk along the cliffs overlooking Exmouth Beach takes you to Orocombe Point, where a sculpture called the Geoneedle marks the most westerly point of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage coastline. The flora in this area makes it a hotspot for lots of species of butterflies. Stop at Bumble and Sea when making this walk for a coffee or ice-cream break before reaching Orocombe.

The Exe Estuary trail is ideal for travelers wanting an accessible and scenic walking excursion. The route is mostly flat and there are both walking and cycling paths that lead to a wildlife reserve surrounded by marshes in the Estuary. This area is often bustling with birdlife, ideal for birdwatchers to catch a glimpse of Exmouth’s feathered residents!

In town, there is a range of shops to purchase a souvenir or a gift. Exmouth Market contains over 30 stores and is a popular spot for tourists and locals alike, catering to all tastes and needs. In the evening, a show can be enjoyed at the Exmouth Pavilion, coupled with a meal in the Pavilion Café. Shows being hosted can range from pantomimes to comedy shows and musicals.

For families

Parents wanting to explore the town with their children can do so in a fun and educational way with the Exmouth Mystery Treasure Trail. This two-hour walking route leads families through the town, looking for clues posted on historic landmarks to find the treasure. The route leads straight to the seafront, where a picnic on the beach would be the perfect reward at the end.

Another exciting outing is Exmouth’s Dinosaur Trail, where life-size models of dinosaurs can be spotted along the walk. Brass rubbings can be collected along the way, providing special keepsakes for the children. The route provides the opportunity to embrace the outdoors and the Jurassic coast location in a way that keeps the children entertained.

A ten-minute drive northeast is the World of Country Life in Sandy Bay, which has an animal park and adventure playground. It makes the ideal day trip due to the wide range of entertainment on offer, as children can hand-feed the red deer and llamas, watch bird of prey shows and explore the farming museum. For automobile enthusiasts, there are displays of vintage vehicles, tractors and steam engines.

Crealy Theme Park
Crealy Theme Park

Crealy Theme Park is another day trip location and is only a 20-minute drive away. This award-winning family theme park is the biggest in Devon, with over 60 rides and attractions. Rides are suitable for children and it is easy to see which is appropriate for different ages. As well as the rides there is something for everyone to enjoy. This includes an indoor play area and animals, including meerkats and tortoises. There are plenty of eateries to choose from within the park,
each catering to different tastes.

Dining ideas

Being a seaside town, there is no shortage of fish and chip shops. Rockfish and Harbour View Café and Chip Shop are located on the beach, where a traditional meal can be enjoyed with a view. The Proper Fish and Chips Co is an alternative choice, located in town and is highly rated by customers.

There is an assortment of cafés where you can enjoy an informal meal. South Beach Café overlooks Sandy Bay and has a relaxed atmosphere coupled with a beautiful coastal view, serving meals containing locally caught fish. The Point Bar and Grill is situated in Exmouth Quay, so diners can watch the hustle-and-bustle of the marina whilst enjoying food sourced by Devon-owned farms. A traditional café experience is available during the day, whilst the evening features quizzes and live music to enjoy over drinks.

The River Exe Café is highly recommended for a memorable dining experience, as it is a floating café in the middle of the River Exe Estuary. Diners can access it by water taxi, adding an extra unique aspect to dinner. The view of the town from the estuary creates a tranquil atmosphere and diners have even reported seeing seals relaxing on the sandbanks nearby.
