"Amazing week stay at Lakeview Manor lodges. The lodge was fantastic. It was spotlessly clean, had all the utilities and utensils needed. We particularly liked the hot tub and the view of the lake and surrounding hills. Plenty of space to exercise the dogs and close to the coast, less than 15 miles from Sidmouth. I highly recommend Beer beach which is quaint and unspoilt and has a few decent pubs. The pub onsite was also a welcome surprise and served good food and beer. Would definitely come back. Also added bonus of commercial spitfire flights from the airfield in Dunkeswell. Wow"

The owners were super friendly and always available if we needed anything, but they respected our privacy completely. The hot tub was a real highlight after a long day of cycling, really relaxing. Just a heads up, the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, so there's quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didn't bother us much after a while, but if you're sensitive to noise, keep that in mind. Overall, a great find!"

The cabins are well-equipped and feel really cosy, with everything you might need. The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. What stood out most was how fresh everything smelled-like they really pay attention to detail. My only small gripe is about the cleanliness on the sofas; we did notice some dog hairs, which suggests previous guests might have had dogs. Maybe adding a sign asking guests to cover the furniture or using steam cleaners would help. Still, overall, a really great experience-would definitely come back!"

"We had such a lovely stay in this charming little place. The privacy was perfect, nestled in a peaceful spot, yet the owners were really friendly and available if we needed anything. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day of cycling - absolutely loved it! A heads up though, the cottage sits right under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but if youre sensitive to noise, its worth knowing. Overall, a great find!"

"The lodge was very spacious and had everything we needed. The extra touch of dog treats and a ball on arrival is a lovely touch. Loved the welcome pack with milk, washing up liquid, tea, coffee etc. plenty of towels and robes for the hot tub.The lodge was generally clean, there were a few dust/dog hair balls that came our from underneath the sofa, lots of cobwebs in the bedrooms and some hair and dust on the floor in the bathrooms. Restaurant on site very good, we had an evening meal here and Sunday lunch which were both good.The only thing I would say is the path/road from the lodge's we were in, down to the restaurant was not particularly well lit at night. Overall had a good stay and would definitely return."

"Just had a 5 day break here, which was very clean, spacious and comfortable. We had no pets but a 3.5 year old, who settled really quickly and loved her room. The staff were so helpful, especially Sarah, who my daughter is still asking to see again.
We wanted a quiet break, so no phone signal was perfect, good (secure) wifi if required and the Dabbling Duck was a god send after a full day
The cabin was fully stocked with everything you need and was extremely clean, with loads of storage space.

The lodge was so beautiful - every little thing was catered for - even down to a torch for those late night walks to the great bar and restaurant. We stayed in a Brook View lodge - not so much a view as a sound - but very relaxing and secluded. The hot tub was amazing - and fluffy robes were provided too. I could have easily stayed for a month!"

A small zoo and aquarium inside a Grade II listed 1930s BBC radio transmitting station.
Tropiquaria is a small zoo and animal sanctuary based in and around a repurposed 1933 BBC Radio Transmitting Station at Washford Cross in Somerset. The listed building houses the Reptile House, Aquarium and Nocturnal House, with several acres of outdoor enclosures around it. Outside you can spot animals such as gibbons, ring-tailed lemurs, meerkats, tapir, wallabies and serval.
Tip: Don't leave dogs in your vehicle, as the car park has limited shade; only registered Assistance Dogs are allowed in the zoo.

A historic working watermill by the River Otter with an award-winning café, bakery, farm shop and gallery.
Otterton Mill is a working watermill beside the River Otter, near Budleigh Salterton. A mill has stood here since the Domesday Book, and the old workings are free to look round, with a self-guided tour and the water wheel kept turning. Flour is still milled using traditional methods.
Tip: Well-behaved dogs on leads can sit outside or downstairs in the café, but only assistance dogs are allowed in the farm shop, gallery and upstairs café.

Powderham Castle is a fortified manor house six miles south of Exeter, on flat ground beside the Exe estuary. The medieval core dates from after 1390, and the house was extended and altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. It has been home to the Courtenay family, Earls of Devon, for centuries.
Tip: The main public entrance gates are in the village of Kenton, so head there rather than to the castle's other side.

Montacute House is a late Elizabethan mansion in South Somerset, completed around 1601 and built of golden local Ham Hill stone. Inside you can explore the ground floor, which is home to the rare Tournai Tapestry, and the Long Gallery is the longest in England and displays portraits as an outpost of the National Portrait Gallery.
Tip: Parking is free, and timed entry tickets are used on busier days, so check before you set off. The Ladies' Walk is a 45-minute climb with lovely views over the village.
