There’s also a large waterpark complete with lazy rivers, slides and an exciting water coaster. There are things to do here for all ages and you’ll definitely want to try out the Flash Floods flume ride.

You can save time and money by booking in advance via the Alton Towers website. Under 3’s don’t have to pay to get in (even though there’s lots of rides and shows they can still enjoy). You can also book the waterpark separately if you want to.

There’s nothing worse than planning a short break and finding it’s raining when you get there. Alton Towers have a brilliant system where if it rains on your visit to the theme park for more than one hour, they’ll give your party a free pass to come back the next day or later in your lodge break.

We love the Heronsview lodge with a king-size sleigh bed and gorgeous covered verandah housing the hot tub. It’s possible to request use of a 3-men Canadian Kayak by arrangement as well! The location of these lodges in the midst of the Staffordshire Moorlands is superb.
