Brockwood Hall Lodges Reviews

"We had a lovely stay at Viken Lodge! The view over the valley was stunning and the lodge was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Its well-equipped with all the utensils youd need. The hot tub was a decent size, though a lid bar wouldve made handling the lid a lot easier and the jets could be a bit stronger. Wed definitely come back!"
Oliver - Mar 2025
"We really enjoyed our stay! The lodges are cosy and the hot tub and sauna were lovely treats. Some areas looked a bit worn out, but it didnt ruin our trip. Comfortable beds and quality linens made it even better. Two bathrooms are definitely a plus!"
Alex H. - Mar 2025
"The kitchen's pretty tired and the deckings seen better days, but overall, not too shabby at all."
Mark - Mar 2025
"Really happy with it"
Emma - Feb 2025
"Our Brockwood Hall Lodges review: The Lodge was spot on for our stay, super cosy and well-equipped, we really enjoyed it!"
Emma - Feb 2025
"Parking could do with extra gravel, plus some of the white goods are quite tired."
Rachel Turner - Jan 2025
"Really enjoyed our visit, cant wait to come back soon!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay, would recommend!"
Charlotte - Jan 2025
"We loved the stunning views at Grizedale Lodge, even if some areas like the floors and door frames look a bit worn. The sofas are a tad low, but the beds are comfy and the kitchen has everything we needed. Nice touch with the welcome pack and treats for the dogs-really made us feel at home. Overall, a lovely stay!"
Emma - Dec 2024
"We had a lovely stay at the lodge, the views were truly stunning and its a great spot to relax. The only real issue was arriving to find the place freezing cold, with just one tiny radiator in the living area-it took ages to warm up! When we checked in, we were told the hot tub might not be ready until around 9pm if it was still being cleaned last and unfortunately, ours was the last one, so it was still cold at 9 and we couldnt use it till the next morning. That was a bit of a let-down. Despite that, wed definitely recommend it and would come back. Though, we did notice prices seem to have gone up quite a lot for 2025-bit of a shock! Still, overall a good experience."
Emily - Nov 2024
"We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Viken Lodge in Brockwood Hall and honestly, it was just what we needed. From the moment we pulled up, the lodges cosy charm and the stunning natural scenery immediately put us at ease. The place itself was spotless and beautifully decorated, striking a perfect balance between modern comfort and rustic charm. The open-plan living space was a real highlight-spacious enough to relax in but still super inviting, with big windows that offered incredible views of the woods and fells around us. The kitchen was fully kitted out, which made self-catering straightforward and the little touches like the comfy bedding and the welcome pack made us feel really looked after. The best bit? The private hot tub. Honestly, after a day out exploring, nothing beats soaking in those bubbles with the peaceful surroundings all around. Its such a luxury! Brockwood Halls location is fantastic-peaceful and secluded, yet close enough to visit Lake District highlights like Coniston Water and Muncaster Castle. There are some lovely woodland walks just outside the door, perfect for a morning stroll or a bit of afternoon adventure. The staff at Brockwood Hall were brilliant-friendly, attentive and always happy to offer tips or a smile, which made a big difference. Whether you want a romantic escape, a family holiday, or just some peace and quiet in nature, Viken Lodge ticks all the boxes. Its a perfect blend of luxury and tranquility and were already planning our next visit!"
Jamie - Nov 2024
"We had a fantastic stay at the lodge! Its super cosy and spacious enough for our family of five. The hot tub was always at the perfect temperature, which was a lovely bonus. We also enjoyed some great walks nearby and the grounds are spotless and well-maintained. The only real downside was dining at Billys restaurant in Brockwood Hall - honestly, the food was pretty shocking. The Sunday roast lamb was mostly fat and the steaks were burnt to a crisp, tasting of charcoal. The chef wasnt exactly friendly either and didnt take kindly to any complaints about the food. Still, the lodge itself made up for it!"
Emily Roberts - Nov 2024
"Great stay, would definitely come back again sometime!"
James - Oct 2024
"We had such a relaxing stay! The lodges were spotless and in a perfect spot, away from city chaos. Everyone was friendly and super helpful-really made our trip enjoyable. Would definitely come back!"
Alex Carter - Oct 2024
"We stayed at this lodge recently and overall, it was a lovely place. The lodge itself was comfortable and we really enjoyed our time there. There was some black mould on the ceiling by the patio doors in the lounge and in the corner of the single bedroom, which was a bit disappointing. Also, we noticed there wasnt a chopping board in the kitchen, which wouldve been handy. When the power went out, the site responded quickly-within a couple of hours-which was good. It might be helpful if they kept battery lanterns in the storage for future guests, as we depended on our phone torches. Despite these small issues, we had a great stay!"
Emily - Oct 2024
"We wish there was a washing machine available for longer stays, but the carpets were spotless and the furniture, while a bit worn, was still okay. Overall, pretty decent!"
Emma - Oct 2024
"Friendly and reliable"
Sam - Oct 2024
"We had a really lovely stay. The lodge had everything we needed, plus some nice little touches. The dog was welcome and the peacocks made it special! Definitely recommend."
Emma - Sep 2024
"The stay at Viken Lodge was really nice. Spacious, clean and comfy. Furnitures a bit old, but still a lovely getaway. Would come back!"
Emma Carter - Sep 2024
"The lodge was really charming and close enough to reception for convenience. The bed wasnt the most comfortable, but I still had a decent sleep. Wouldve been a bonus to have a washing machine inside."
Emma Carter - Sep 2024
"The lodge was really lovely and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well-stocked, but some furniture looked a bit tired and could do with a deep clean. A quick clear of cobwebs would make it perfect!"
Emma Roberts - Sep 2024
"We absolutely loved the peaceful vibe and the charming lodge at Brockwood Hall. The scenery is stunning and wed definitely come back and recommend it to friends!"
Emma - Aug 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, will return"
Emma Jacobs - Jun 2024
"Very happy indeed"
Emma Carter - May 2024
"We stayed here for the first time and honestly, we were really pleased. Having been to a few lodges across the country, this place definitely stands out for its breathtaking views. We arrived on a Monday and left Friday and from the moment we got there, the staff made us feel welcome with friendly, helpful info. Our lodge was more of a cosy Scandinavian style than ultra-modern, which we loved - spacious and spotless. The furniture was top-notch, though you could see a bit of wear, but nothing that spoiled the charm. The beds were a tad too firm for us, but thats personal taste. One of the best bits was the small woodland area perfect for dog walks, a real rarity! We also enjoyed the restaurant-twice, actually-once dining in and once grabbing takeout. Both meals were tasty and good value. All in all, a lovely spot, a bit off the main tourist trail (about 25 mins from Coniston), but definitely worth the trip for a relaxing break. Wed come back!"
Harriet - May 2024
"Great experience, highly recommend"
David - May 2024
"We had a lovely stay. The lodge was spotless and super comfy, with everything we needed. The only tiny gripe was the fridge-no door on the freezer and thick ice, but it wasn't a big deal at all."
Emma - May 2024
"We stayed in the lodge recently and honestly, it was pretty decent for our little getaway. The views were stunning and the hot tub was definitely a highlight - really relaxing! The place was spotlessly clean, which we appreciated, though the furnishings did seem a bit tired in spots. The bathroom was on the small side; the shower was quite cramped, especially for my husband. The cooker was an old electric ring that took ages to heat up, so we didnt end up using it much, but the oven and grill worked well. The coffee machine was a bit of a let-down - it just kept giving cold coffee, but Im sure if wed mentioned it, staff wouldve sorted it out. All in all, wed go back - maybe splurge a little next time and go for a slightly fancier lodge, but this was still a lovely stay!"
Rachel - May 2024
"Really enjoyed the stay, the place was spotless, roomy and welcoming. Definitely returning soon!"
Emily Carter - Apr 2024
"Had a brilliant time and the accommodation was just the right size for a family of 3 and a dog. The only downside was the lack of fridge and freezer space in the lodge. Location was fantastic, local beaches not too far away and the food at the restaurant was really Nice and the staff were nothing but helpful and friendly. Would definitely visit again :-)"
Sharon - Aug 2022
"Great views around the area. Staff were always polite and helpful."
Wayne - Aug 2022
"Spent a weekend here with my family, including my 20 month old little boy and 2 dogs. Slightly out of the way but a lovely drive to the beach if you want to explore. Cabins clean tidy and cosy, my little boy loved seeing the peacocks roaming. The shop on-site had all the essentials, the restaurant food was lovely and staff really friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time"
Katie - Jul 2022
"Lovely big lodge with plenty of room for the family with everything you need. Friendly staff and lovely wee pub/restaurant. Only downside is could do with a better park for the children. But overall had a lovely stay."
Claire - Jul 2022
"Just back from a week's stay at the beautiful Brockwood hall. Loved it. Location is perfect, beautiful views and walks, our toddler and dog both had a great time. The lodges are lovely, hot tubs great, the on site pub and shop brilliant and staff so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back"
Gordon - Jul 2022
"Stayed here for 3 days, was just beautiful. The lodge itself was lovely and clean, the beds were mega comfy. Kids and our dog were very happy. Lots to do around the area and Windermere lake is a must to go and visit for the day. Definitely be back soon"
Gail - Jul 2022
"Lovely stay We have been before so knew what to expect and it didn’t let us down we will return again Thanks"
Leanne - Jul 2022
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brockwood Hall and would definitely return. The location was exceptional. The on site facilities were great especially the hot tub at the lodge. I know that they are opening a new leisure centre in 2023, which will be a welcome addition. The Peacocks in the grounds added a special touch. The woodland walks were great for the dogs too. Highly recommend this location for a family holiday where dogs are welcome."
Scott - Jul 2022
"Brockwood hall really nice, just don't go to millom, nothing there."
Christopher - Jul 2022
"Had a great stay only down side noisy neighbours with barking dogs"

Attractions Near Brockwood Hall Lodges

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Brockwood Hall Lodges. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 6 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 18 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 20 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 21 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 24 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 30 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT
about 38 Miles
Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
