Paradise Lakeside Lodges

Vale Of York » Storwood, York

This rural retreat is a fisherman's delight, set on the banks of a coarse fishing lake in 15 acres of landscaped heaven! It's a beautiful setting and York with its many attractions, pubs and restaurants is easily accessible by car.

As well as fishing for all ages and abilities, there's lots to do in the Vale of York. Just a few miles away, Allerthorpe Park Watersports offers sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and canoeing - or you could swing from the high wires 40 feet up at Go Ape in Thornton le Dale.

If you're looking for a luxurious lodge with an outdoor hot tub, try Paradise Wood View VIP. It sleeps six people and is tastefully furnished with a verandah and garden furniture. Or if there's a party of you, Kingfisher House sleeps up to ten and has a balcony overlooking the lake plus its own cinema and games room; it's perfect for a big family celebration or special event!

York has much to offer visitors, from the Minster and the racecourse to the dungeons, but a little further afield, you can go rock climbing and bowling at Xscape in Castleford or head to Scunthorpe for some retail therapy

Visitor Reviews of York House Country Park

Great October break with family in a superb quiet location. Lots to see and do in the area and ideal for visting National Trust places.

We stayed in a lodge in the Abbots Green part of the site. The lodge was spotless and felt almost like new. The lounge area was cosy and inviting. The kitchen had everything we needed to self-cater evening meals and cooked breakfasts. The beds were comfy and bathrooms clean. We brought our own travel cot and there was space in the twin bedroom to put it up in there. It wasn't warm enough to sit out on the porch for long - but we noticed it was all fenced in with gates so is ideal for anyone with small children to keep captive!

No complaints really. Our only very minor quibbles would be the lack of hand soap in the lodge (we forgot to bring our own) and the cups provided in the kitchen look nice but are a really bad design with a tiny handle near the top (almost impossible to carry without spilling). My advice would be to stock some big ol' mugs in the cupboard for a proper Yorkshire tea!

Wonderful relaxing holiday on a beautiful site - immaculate grounds and the added bonus of a dog friendly play area

Date of stay: 14th July 2018
Great holiday in a beautiful, peaceful holiday park, providing an ideal base to travel throughout Yorkshire. Lots of things to do and places to visit nearby. Cannot recommend York House Holiday Park enough and am sure that we will be returning.
Jennifer, Lincoln
Date of stay: 6th July 2018
We loved this lodge and park so neat, clean and very quiet. If you are wanting a holiday with provided entertainment and lots to do on site then this is not for you. If you want calm and tranquillity and to look to yourself for your holiday enjoyment and plans then this would suit. A good location for Thirsk, The Yorkshire Dales and Yorkshire Moors and easy to travel to and to go visiting from. There were few if any children on site which suited well but we stayed during term time and during the week so could be different depending on school holidays/weekend. We wouldn't hesitate to use this park again and we would invite friends who seek a quiet holiday to do the same.
Date of stay: 30th June 2018
This is the first time we have been to York House Country Park and we were very impressed.
Our only 2 criticisms were: Lack of umbrella on the decking, which meant it was too hot to sit out there.
There was no clock anywhere in the lodge, not even on the cooker!!

Date of stay: 30th September 2017
Ideal location, visited Malham Cove, Whitby, York, Leeds, Fountains Abbey, Hartlepool and both sites of the National Railway Museum all within reach.

Caravan park was just perfect for me and good access, no narrow lanes. Cafe on site, but didn't use as was always out before it opened. Thirsk close by for your supermarket shopping or eating out.
Allan, Burstwick
Date of stay: 8th September 2017
Very relaxing, which was the reason for our stay.

Thanks to all
Tony, Cheltenham
Date of stay: 2nd September 2017
Helmesley is lovely, and the walk to Reivaulx Abbey ruins along the Cleveland way is well worth the short climb in the middle of an otherwise straightforward walk. The Abbey is stunning, and the views of the castle are great on the return walk.
The North York Moors railway is wonderful, and the villages of Masham and Middlham make great stops on the way to Leyburn on the edge of the dales. Of the two brewery visitor centres in Masham, make time for the Theakston's as it is kept a traditional pub feel, whereas the Black Sheep was more commercial.
The park, accommodation and service were all first class making this a wonderful holiday destination.
Andrew, Northamptonshire

Date of stay: 9th July 2016
Caravan was clean, but we did find a lot of dog hair. A standard vacuum cleaner will not take that up. There was a pad lid missing which made cooking certain items tricky. Overall nice caravan with plenty space.

Date of stay: 9th October 2015
The staff were extremly welcoming and helpful.I wasn't aware that towels were not provided as part of the hire package, but Sam,one of the staff provided us with some at a moments notice free of charge.
The grounds are well looked after and very peaceful. Our cabin was inside a gated area and was very bright and comfortable. It's no stretch of the imagination to say that this is the best cabin accomodation I have ever hired.

Kirsty, Glasgow
Date of stay: 6th July 2015
Caravan was spotless and . I had asked the staff if they had something I could use to dry clothes and they were very helpful and offered a variety of suggestions. It would have been useful for the caravan to have some sort of facility to dry clothes e.g. a portable whirly gig or window drier.
Diane, Essex
Date of stay: 27th June 2015
The only thing missing for us was a cafeterier but we managed. Very nice place surrounding villages where a delight to go round.
Clare, Hull

Absolutely loved our stay in the standard 3 caravan. The Park on site is lovely with massive play area for children, we had taken our 2 and 4 year olds both enjoyed every minute. Staff are lovely and more then helpful. The actual caravan was lovely clean and tidy had everything we needed for our stay, we will definitely be back!

Date of stay: 6th September 2014
We thought the park was very well maintained, the caravan was spotless and the staff were very welcoming.
We are looking forward to going back next year.
There was plenty to do while we were there, the petting farm was all my 3 yr old wanted to do. The coast was not all that far either.
Would I recommend York House? You bet, the park was the best I have been to ever.
Tracy, Berwick Upon Tweed
Date of stay: 9th August 2014

Date of stay: 9th August 2014
Lovely quiet park, very well maintained with an excellent outdoor play area for the children. We stayed in a 'basic' caravan and the main double bedroom was en suite! Lots of living space and storage and the kitchen had everything you could need. Great holiday and would happily return.

Andrew, Irvine
Date of stay: 25th July 2014
It's a pity there wasn't a shop to buy basic necessities, bread and milk etc. Otherwise it was the best park we've ever stayed in.
Caroline, Dunbar
Date of stay: 19th July 2014
A lovely spacious lodge with a modern, stylish interior, well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. The lodge park was immaculate and it was very quiet and peaceful. There was a washer/ dryer which was an unexpected bonus, but it would have been good to have somewhere to hang clothes outside - a discreet clothes line behind the lodge perhaps. We had a lovely time here and would definitely go back.
Christine, Sittingbourne
Date of stay: 16th May 2014

Date of stay: 10th March 2014
A very nice caravan in a lovely setting. Close to places of interest and highly recommended. Helpful and friendly staff.
Upon arrival I met Sam who with her husband manage the park. During the week that I spent there she was always smiling, friendly and helpful. The park is kept very clean and very well cared for and is set in quiet and tranquil surroundings. I feel that the park would probably benefit from an on-site shop as I believe the shops in Thirsk are the nearest. However, my stay there was very pleasant.
A lovely relaxing break, really nice quiet park very well maintained, very helpful pleasant owners and staff, lovely countryside setting, near shops and takeaways.
First holiday with our new puppy and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Great facilities for us and the dog 🐕
Stayed here in a "Superior Caravan" for a few days whilst visiting the nearby gliding club. The Caravan had all that you would want, was spotlessly clean, and a very reasonable price. I didn't use the site facilities, but the staff were very friendly.
Immaculately kept park, all facilities well maintained, staff welcoming, caravan spotless and had everything you could possibly need.
It was a lovely quiet site. It was a shame we went out of season so the coffee shop wasn't open as much. It would be lovely to have the option of a hot tub on some of the lodges? Maybe a small shop where you could buy essentials as the nearest shop was quite a way out. Didn't realise that check in was until 5pm as email seemed to say after 7pm you needed to arrange it before hand.
We had a fantastic stay at York House Country Park. Staff were so friendly and could not do enough for you. Accommodation was lovely and clean (We stayed in a standard caravan) and was a great base for our travels around York. Will definitely be back!
We had a great break with peace and quiet.Perfect getaway for relaxation.
Excellent lodge within a gated community.
First class site with friendly staff and excellent cafe
Relaxing break although mobile reception was an issue and Wi-Fi is only available in the reception and games room.
When of the best holidays I've had. Nice quiet site, helpful and friendly staff everything very clean. Not a place to go if you want a pool, gym and amusements on site. But if you don't want these it's perfect.
This is a brilliant site, very well maintained and lovely surroundings. The caravan was very clean and well maintained. The staff on the site were very friendly and helpful, I can't wait to go back.
