Paradise Lakeside Lodges

This rural retreat is a fisherman's delight, set on the banks of a coarse fishing lake in 15 acres of landscaped heaven! It's a beautiful setting and York with its many attractions, pubs and restaurants is easily accessible by car.

As well as fishing for all ages and abilities, there's lots to do in the Vale of York. Just a few miles away, Allerthorpe Park Watersports offers sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and canoeing - or you could swing from the high wires 40 feet up at Go Ape in Thornton le Dale.

If you're looking for a luxurious lodge with an outdoor hot tub, try Paradise Wood View VIP. It sleeps six people and is tastefully furnished with a verandah and garden furniture. Or if there's a party of you, Kingfisher House sleeps up to ten and has a balcony overlooking the lake plus its own cinema and games room; it's perfect for a big family celebration or special event!

York has much to offer visitors, from the Minster and the racecourse to the dungeons, but a little further afield, you can go rock climbing and bowling at Xscape in Castleford or head to Scunthorpe for some retail therapy.

We stayed for 4 nights and could have stayed longer! This place was amazing and was so peaceful. If you're looking to get away from it all, here is for you. We sat out in our chairs every night as it was so beautiful and peaceful.
The ducks were brilliant too, they are hungry and greedy. You can buy feed at reception to feed the ducks. I spent a good amount of time sat on the grass with about 15 ducks around me! We also saw hedgehogs and squirrels!
The site is just 10 minutes from a garage with a big coop and subway in it so you don't need to worry about where you are going to buy food from. There are also a number of pubs around the area that you can get to, to eat.
York Maze is only 15 minutes up the road and is worth a visit in season (we will be going back). York itself is really easy to get to and I would advise driving 15 minutes to the park and ride. Getting the bus in is easier than driving and finding parking in York. We did get a taxi from the site to York so we could try the local pubs and bars. It was about £25 each way and was worth it for a day out in the pubs.
The owners are on site and on hand at all times. We couldn't fault the friendly service at all. 100% recommend to anyone looking to get away from the normal day to day life.

Date of stay: 6th August 2018
What a delightful surprise! Booked early last year as a base for a walking holiday in Yorkshire, this is an excellent location and the lodges superb. The lodges are very roomy and airy and have a fully fitted kitchen, tv dvd etc , bathroom and an ensuite in the double room. The lodge was perfectly clean on our arrival, perhaps less so when we left, sorry! Only 12 or so miles from York with good access to road links we were soon zooming around the area for lots of walking. Many thanks to the team, who keep it immaculate.
Stephen, Shrewsbury
Date of stay: 30th July 2018
This is our third stay at Paradise Lakeside Lodges and we have always found the lodges to be of excellent quality, comfort and value. We particularly liked the big leather sofas in this lodge (No. 5) and the outside, lockable fishing gear storage cupboard. The only slight negative with this lodge is that is has an open veranda and the steps and decking is in need of some attention/repair. As with previous visits, the wi-fi was again virtually non-existant, but we live in hope that the owners will fix this at some time.

Date of stay: 27th July 2018
We loved paradise lakes, we stayed in a pod and it was great! The couple who welcomed us were very helpful and full of information about the area. It was very quiet, which was ideal for us :) no shop on site, but again this was ok for us. The chap in reception was full of knowledge about fishing and kept hubby chatting and seemed to know his stuff (although admittedly, I'm no judge!) Nice small play area for the kiddy and plenty of space to run around, although supervised is recommended as you are right next to a lake! Loved it and will definitely be going back.

Date of stay: 20th July 2018
A fantastic family holiday if you appreciate nature and great views. The hot tub is great fun and helps to ease away any aches and pains. It's a great escape to a picturesque part of the country and the owners are lovely. Don't forget your toilet bleach, spare loo rolls and kitchen cleaner. We found we did and bought them at a local store. The dish washer was a God send since their were five of us. The ducks were our favourite thing. Poor Dugey had a broken leg so we fed him more food. The duck food is £1 for a large bag from reception. We had sunny weather so we really enjoyed walks around the grounds. My son enjoyed the park.
We hoovered around the edges of every room which were the bits that seem to have mostly been missed. We like our home spotless so even though it's a log cabin we expected the same. The bedding was clean and the beds were comfortable. We
hoovered up lots of spiders but that's because our son and myself are scared of them. Everything you need is there, even a washer dryer. My husband left two towels and my son's and his swimming shorts in the tumblers dryer. Oops! So do make sure that you check in there when you pack up to leave. There are takeaways and restaurants that you can collect door from about 20 mins drive away. Check in is simple and helpful. Our son was happy with his free box of Malteasers from the owners! We do feel that a shop is missing. Just a small one that sells milk, newspapers, toilet rolls, hand soap, toilet bleach etc.
We were there for five days, four nights from mon-fri and we didn't want to go home so we must have been enjoying ourselves! Thankyou.

Date of stay: 30th June 2018
I loved our holiday here so much that I actually cried when we left! Perfect little Lodge (Waterview). I love birds/nature so this was perfect for me. Quiet location, peaceful, tranquil. Perfect for a relaxing break.

Water temperature was a little dodgy in the showers, but we coped.

Only downside is the Wi-Fi is rubbish! But in that rural location you dont so much mind switching off from the outside world for a proper break.
Beverley, Bracknell
Date of stay: 29th June 2018

Date of stay: 29th June 2018
Great for a mini break! I would recommend and would book to visit again.
Maureen, Halifax
Date of stay: 22nd June 2018
The pod was a bit like a TARDIS with more inside than could be believed. There wasn't much room for the storage of clothes but that didn't matter to me as I was staying on my own. If taking a family of four (which is what the pod is designed to accommodate) then storage may be a problem. I took my holiday in school term time which meant that it was extremely good value for money. I would recommend this type of holiday as I found it a delightful way to spend time away from home.

Date of stay: 13th April 2018
We stayed during the Easter holidays and had a great time as a family. We couldn't fault the house, location or staff at all. Each exceeded our expectations.
The location is so quiet and just what we needed as a relaxing break. Even the noise from the ducks wasn't an issue.
The house is excellent, especially the games and cinema room which kept the whole family occupied during the bad weather. We also loved the fact that each room could have their own temperature controlled individually.
This is a place we definitely want to go to again.

These lodges are fab! We stayed in the paradise lodge for 6 people and it was great plenty of room for us all + hot tub!
There isnt overly plenty to do but we were happy to stay in and play games but there are small villages near by! Plenty of utensils for cooking just make sure to take towels, soaps, cooking oils tea etc + everything else you would need for a self catering holiday! We bagged a bargain booked on Black Friday weekend!
Overall would reccomend this place!!

Helena, Warwickshire
Date of stay: 29th October 2017
The only reason we didn't give a 10 for cleanliness was because we found a pair of dirty pink socks in the double bedside cabinet and and a pair of childrens jeans in the small bedroom, so it didn't seem that they had been checked properly.

Otherwise very clean. (I mislaid a bracelet so was rummaging around trying to find it).
Joanne, Gresham Norfolk

Date of stay: 2nd October 2017
Very enjoyable. With going late September/early October the good points are the colours of autumn, though the downside is the dark comes in earlier so maybe some lights around the lake would be an idea. Once the dark comes in the beautiful lake and birds are not to be seen when sitting on our very comfortable balcony which is a shame.
Philip, Bradford
Date of stay: 22nd September 2017
I would stay in the pods again but will probebly try the log cabins next time

Date of stay: 26th August 2017
We will definitely return. Everything was very good, relaxing, quiet and we really didn't want to come back home. We did have, however, a problem with one of our dogs. She is very old and couldn't get up and down the stairs to the lodge and we thought some sort of ramp would have been easier (not all dogs are used to stairs). I would have been nice also to be have been able to let our dogs of their leads occasionally on site so they could chase their toys (which they are used to). However, both animals were relaxed and happy in the lodge which was good.

Fantastic holiday ! The Park view lodge we stayed in was great , very clean and tidy when we arrived. Hot tub , walk in wardrobes , what else could you want !. By far the best lodge we have ever stayed in . We received a warm welcome by the lovely staff who work there and the bottle of wine as we arrived is always a nice touch . Great location too . Only a twenty minute drive to York which is a beautiful city and about fifteen minutes from York maze which is a great day out for the whole family . We will definitely be returning !!

Date of stay: 28th July 2017
Fantastic break, we had a relaxing 5 days away with our 3 boys. Stayed in wood view 2 with a private hot tub. The tub was fantastic and the lodge was well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Beds comfortable, and everything lovely and clean. The owners were friendly and checked the hot tub daily. I would recommend you don't arrive early as this is a family run business and they do most of the work themselves, so you will not be able to get into your accommodation early as they will be busy getting things ready. The park is pretty and very peaceful, so prefect for a chilled escape. There's plenty to visit within short driving distance, but we, especially the children preferred to bubble in the tub. Would definitely be returning.

It was a really nice few days away, we will definitely return at some point in the not too distant future. My husband was out fishing in the early morning everyday being so easy as the cabin was on the side of the lake. We took our granddaughter age 9 and was a bit worried about keeping her occupied away from it all with no internet or childrens' facilities etc, but i she thoroughly enjoyed herself and learned how to fish with Granddad, she asked when we were going again.

The lodge and area was amazing, but the only downfall was the hot tub. The hot gave all 4 visitors burns and when we contacted the manager she was quite rude down the phone and sent an email with no support at all. Will be taking this further

We had a lovely four night break with our two children (4 and 6 years). Staff were really friendly at checkin and my children loved the complimentary chocolates. The lodge was nice and quiet and had everything we needed in it. It was in a good location for our day trips. Our only regret was our stay was not for longer as we did not want to leave. We will be booking a week next time. A really enjoyable and peaceful stay, thanks.

Date of stay: 24th June 2016
The lodges are well set out with a lot of room. The bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds. The lodge we were in had its own shower and a on sweet with full size bath in the main bedroom. The living room and kitchen are poen plan and feels very roomy. We have been in 6 different lodges over the years and they all are to a high standard. Big flat screen tvs dish washer microwave and some have a washing machine and hot tub. Lodges 6 8 and 10 are pet friendly with an enclosed veranda and a balcony with gates right round to keep your pet save and dry. It all feels like a little bit of luxury in the middle of no where with leather sofas modern fire place its the little things that count.

Had a lovely weekend away with my partner, thoroughly enjoyed the tranquil settings of the paradise pod. Would have preferred for the town or something to be a bit closer than it was but because we drive weren't so much an issue. Owners were absolutely lovely and always available one way or another if there was an issue. Would definitely recommend!

Had another lovely weekend in one of the Paradise Pods. Idyllic location, so relaxing to look out onto a view of the lake with the ducks and chickens wandering about. Our children (aged 9 & 11) loved the freedom of being able to explore and we had a lovely day out in nearby York. Staff friendly and helpful. Pods are very compact and cute. This was our second visit and I am sure we will return.

We had a lovely last minute break and thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquillity at the Paradise Lakeside Lodges.

The ecopod was perfect for a 4 night stay with our two young children. Although small, it was well equipped and well thought out. The setting is rather magical and we loved the lights along the path at night.

Enjoyed exploring York (only 14 miles away) and had a day at Staithes and Whitby. Lots to see and do in the area. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful place and lovely spacious lodge with fantastic hot tub. Everything you needed was in the lodge (except towels). My only criticism would be there was no hand soap in the toilets which we thought would be provided. The owners Karen and John were the most helpful people and we even got a bottle of wine on arrival. A fabulous place to stay for rest and relaxation. Nothing to do within walking distance and no signal for phones at all. We had a great time.

The pods are great to stay in. They are very compact but very well laid out. They are very clean and comfortable to sleep in. My personal opinion is that it is suitable for a couple I would not recommend staying in it with small children I do not think it would be big enough. Having said that it is one of the best accomodation we have stayed in.

Elizabeth, Datchet
Date of stay: 2nd December 2013
As already mentioned the accommodation was excellent. The only two things which would gave giving all 10 were, the door hinges of the bedrooms and bathrooms needed oiling. (One of our party had to get up several times each night to pay a visit, waking everyone with the squeak) and could do with a non-stick frying pan. Holidays aren't the same without a fry up!
Amanda, Bradford West Yorkshire
Date of stay: 25th November 2013

Laura
Lovely lodges perfect for a weekend get away.
Brian
A lovely quiet place, with lots of wildlife, no food stores anywhere near, so food must be taken or its about 8 miles to eat, so car is essential. Lovely lodge.
LYN
Fantastic place, could have stayed forever.
Brian
We stayed during the Easter holidays and had a great time as a family. We couldn't fault the house, location or staff at all. Each exceeded our expectations. The location is so quiet and just what we needed as a relaxing break. Even the noise from the ducks wasn't an issue. The house is excellent, especially the games and cinema room which kept the whole family occupied during the bad weather. We also loved the fact that each room could have their own temperature controlled individually. This is a place we definitely want to go to again.
Vikki
This is our second visit to Paradise Lakeside Lodges. The settings are beautiful and your not too far from York or the coast. We stayed in a pod the first time and a lodge the second time. We have already booked a weeks stay for next year and we are already looking forward too it. Even our family members have booked for the same time.

The maze has been improved this year and is now bigger and better than ever before. Carved from an amazing 1.5 million growing maize plants it is thought to be the largest maze in the world! As well as the maze itself the site boasts an adventure playground, 9 hole crazy golf courses and an animal petting area where children can meet the cute and friendly animals that eat the maize and watch pig racing! Tractor and trailer rides around the maize are also available and are recommended for those with young children.
