Holly Tree Lodges Reviews

"The hot tub and sauna were really top-notch, definitely worth every penny. Stayed four nights, only wish it was longer!"
Emma Carter - Mar 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay, the location was perfect and relaxing."
Mike - Mar 2025
"We had a lovely stay! The lodge was spotless and well-equipped, with everything we could possibly need. Having supplies like milk, tea, coffee and sugar ready was really convenient. The covered veranda and hot tub were perfect for relaxing outdoors, especially with the sauna being a nice surprise. For four adults, it felt a bit cosy - maybe a bit more space would have been ideal, but for a couple or small family, its just right. The info folder was handy too, making everything straightforward during our stay. Overall, a really pleasant experience that wed happily repeat!"
Emily - Mar 2025
"We really appreciated the wet room, especially since I cant walk and couldnt get to a raised shower tray. The external ramp was straightforward and inside there was plenty of space for my wheelchair. It made for a lovely, relaxing little break!"
Emma Carter - Feb 2025
"Our Holly Tree Lodges review: Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was super cosy and well-equipped. The hot tub being enclosed was a total game-changer!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"We had a great stay at the lodge! It was spotless and the hot tub was all set when we arrived, though we were told it might take a bit to warm up. Loved that there were basics like tea, coffee, sugar and milk waiting for us - really thoughtful. The rooms felt super cosy and the blackout blinds made it easy to sleep in. Evenings were fun with the games provided and relaxing in the hot tub was the perfect way to wind down. The only thing was, drying the towels was a bit tricky, but overall, really enjoyed our stay!"
Emily Carter - Dec 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay here. The place was spotless, comfy and clearly looked after. The peaceful setting with lovely scenery made it even better. Its perfect if youre bringing dogs because there are lots of walking trails nearby. Plus, its not far from York city centre, so you can easily explore. The hot tub was a great bonus and the staff kept it in top shape. Wed definitely come back! Thanks a lot."
James - Nov 2024
"We had a really chilled weekend here and the lodge was spotless and cosy. The location is just perfect, surrounded by nice scenery - made the whole stay even better. The beds were super comfy, though a bit on the small side, but still fine for us. We loved that check-in was fuss-free with just key codes, no need to queue or wait around. Only thing was the shower, its a bit underpowered and took ages to rinse off, but overall, a lovely break!"
Alex - Nov 2024
"We stayed in a lovely, spotless lodge that had everything we needed. Its clear they put effort into keeping it clean and well-stocked. As dog owners, we appreciated how there was no sign of previous furry guests. Only thing wed suggest is adding a secure area for dogs to run freely. Would definitely come back!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"We found the living room furniture a bit lower than expected, but honestly, its more comfortable this way! Loved it."
Sam - Oct 2024
"We arrived at the lodge and it was spotless, which was great. There was so much equipment available and all the facilities worked perfectly. The hot tub was especially good for those with mobility issues. Overall, we loved it!"
Alex - Sep 2024
"Really enjoyed our visit, will return!"
Emma Carter - Apr 2024
"We recently stayed here over the Easter break and honestly, it was a pretty lovely experience. Checking in was a breeze - we got an email two days beforeh and with all the details, including the key code for the lodge and instructions for the sauna and hot tub, plus an emergency contact if needed. The little booklet they provided with info on nearby pubs, takeaways, shops and bus stops was really helpful. The lodge itself was spotless and looked well cared for, which made us feel comfortable straight away. There are only a few lodges around, which keeps the whole place quiet and peaceful, perfect for relaxing. We loved that its only about half an hour by bus to York, so its easy to visit the city without staying right in the hustle and bustle. The hot tub was definitely the highlight for us - it was perfect and we spent quite a bit of time unwinding in it. The sauna was a bonus too and we made good use of it. The towels were provided and having tea, coffee and sugar ready in the lodge was a nice touch. We did notice that after a few days, the hot tub started to look a bit grimy, which was a bit disappointing, but overall it was fine. The lodge had plenty of toilet paper and hand soap, so no issues there. We also had fun with the games - cards Against Humanity and a pub quiz, which kept us entertained. Only small thing - the knives in the kitchen could do with sharpening, as they were quite tough to cut with. All in all, we had a great stay and wouldnt hesitate to recommend this place. Were already thinking about coming back. If you dont drive, its still easy to get here thanks to good transport links. Also, the Derwent Arms just a 10-minute walk away is a cracking pub and dogs are welcome in the main area, which is handy if youre bringing your furry friend. We definitely enjoyed our time here and will be back soon!"
Charlotte - Apr 2024
"We recently stayed for four nights and honestly, it was such a relaxing escape. The lodge was spot on - super comfy and peaceful. Loved the hot tub on the balcony! Plus, being near York and all the shopping spots was a bonus."
Claire - Mar 2024
"Very comfortable stay"
Claire - Mar 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, would definitely return."
Emma - Mar 2024
"We loved our stay at the log cabin! It was super cosy and spotlessly clean, which made all the difference. The hot tub and sauna were definite highlights, perfect for relaxing after a day out. The size was just right for two of us and maybe for a couple of small kids, but definitely too snug for four adults or teens. Plus, being so close to York-less than 10 minutes-was a real bonus!"
Emma - Mar 2024
"We absolutely loved this place! The cabins are top-notch and the sauna plus hot tub turned our stay into a proper retreat. Its so peaceful and unspoilt, yet only ten minutes from York. Staff and owner were super friendly. Cant wait to come back in December!"
Sam - Feb 2024
"We turned up not knowing which cabin was ours, but luckily Jason was around and quickly pointed us in the right direction. Once we unpacked, we found out wed actually been assigned to the wrong one, but the staff said we could stay there instead of redoing everything, which was a relief. Sadly, that meant no sauna for us. The next morning, at about 8am, we got a welcome email with all the instructions - better late than never! The cabin itself was cosy, perfect for four people in two bedrooms, though the hot tub only fits two and it was cold when we tried to use it on arrival. Weve stayed in lots of log cabins before and always enjoyed hot tubs on the first night, so that was a bit disappointing. On the bright side, its super close to York with easy park and ride options nearby, making exploring really convenient."
Emma - Jan 2024
"The lodge was a decent size and kept very tidy, which we appreciated. The only downside was the constant bad smell from the shower plug hole. Still, we enjoyed our stay overall."
Emma - Jan 2024
"The disabled cabin's furniture is a bit too low, but other than that, everything was spot on. We really enjoyed our stay overall!"
George - Dec 2023
"We loved the location - it felt like being miles from anywhere, even though Yorks just a quick 10-minute drive away. The place was super peaceful and the grounds were spotless. The lodge itself was gorgeous, especially the covered veranda where we could relax by the lake, no matter the weather. The French doors from the bedroom were a real bonus, perfect for reading in bed while enjoying the view. Definitely recommend and will come back!"
