"Our Oakwood Lodges review: Lovely location. Quiet and restful away from the nearest village with an abundance of bird life from our deck. Very clean accommodation. Well equipped. Sparkling clean hot tub, up to temperature when we arrived. A personal preference, I think the main bedroom which is a really good size would benefit from a king-size bed. We faced the lake and our deck felt very private with no-one opposite us. We visited for a weekend in March and thought it was good value."

"We loved staying here! The place is super peaceful, far from the busy village and we enjoyed watching all the bird life from the deck. The accommodation was spotless and well equipped, which made everything easy. The hot tub was sparkling clean and ready to go when we arrived-such a nice touch. If were honest, the main bedroom could do with a king-size bed, but overall, it felt really private facing the lake. Great value for a weekend getaway in March!"

"Great stay at Oakwood! Great start to the New Year.Lovely lodge, surrounded by beautiful surroundings and nature, loved the little robins that came to see us every morning.Lovely experience to have the hot tub in the snowy crisp weather.Had a slight electric trip, due to the snow, however we were kept up to date on the progress of when it would be back on, this wasn't the site itself, but the area of North Yorkshire we were in.Lovely chilled weekend and would highly recommend!"

"We had a really lovely time staying at Oakwood! Its a great spot to start the New Year, honestly. The lodge itself was cosy and surrounded by stunning nature - we loved the little robins that kept visiting us each morning. The hot tub was a real treat, especially in the snowy, crisp weather, didnt want to leave! We did have a minor electric trip because of the snow, but the staff kept us updated, which was appreciated. Overall, a chilled weekend, highly recommend!"

"We had a fantastic stay at this lovely spot, tucked away in a peaceful, private setting. The owners were super friendly and always ready to help if needed, yet kept that perfect quiet vibe. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day cycling around. One thing to note, its quite close to Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of plane noise. It didnt bother us much after a couple of hours, but if youre sensitive to noise, its worth mentioning. Overall, a great place to unwind!"

"We really enjoyed our stay at Oakwood Lodges again. The place is so welcoming and super comfy. One thing we noticed is that a bigger fridge freezer would make things a lot easier, especially for longer stays. The location is perfect if youre after some peace and quiet, though it does mean you need to do daily shopping since there arent many shops nearby. We did try ordering takeaways, but some were quite pricey and not really worth it, especially the Chinese place listed in the folder - honestly, we wouldnt bother again. Still, the lodge itself is lovely and wed definitely come back!"

"From the moment we arrived, Rob, Sharon and adorable Bonnie made us feel right at home. The buildings history is preserved beautifully and they've put a lot of love into the place. Goddards Mead is perfect for a chill getaway, with everything you need for comfort. The location is ideal - exploring Thaxted and the surrounding villages is a must, full of charming sights and stories. Wed definitely recommend it for a relaxing break!"

"We really enjoyed the peacefulness and darkness at the place. Its been ages since we could just sit back and stare at the stars without streetlights or traffic noise. There were a couple of minor issues though - the toilet fan was so loud it sounded like a jet taking off and the shower drained really slowly, almost overflowing a few times. Not major problems, but definitely worth fixing for a smoother stay. Still, wed come back!"

"What an Amazing lodge, it's luxurious and relaxing. We stayed for a week and it was so chilled. The bedroom definitely has the wow factor. It was the comfiest bed I've ever slept on and the shower is amazing. We were there during the heat wave and temperatures got to 40°. We turned the hot tub down low and used it to cool off. The kitchen was well aquiped and had everything we needed. We headed into York one day and used the park and ride to get there. York was lovely. The only downfall of the whole break was the garden furniture. The chairs are uncomfortable and because they were metal got excruciatingly hot during the day that you couldn't sit on them. As it was so hot you wanted to be outside but unfortunately there was nowhere to relax. I'd have rated this 10/10 if the furniture had been a bit more comfortable and practical. If we went again we would take our own garden loungers."
