Griffon Forest Reviews

"We stay at Poachers Premier every time we go to Griffin Forest, it is a touch of luxury, which we absolutely love."
Lorna - Sep 2024
"Great lodge, open plan worked very well. The long decking and huge hot tub made it special. Walk in shower was great, very powerful it felt like a massage. Bath was not needed really but looked huge. The lounge had very comfy leather settees and managed to feel cosy. Excellent lodge for two people."
Paul - Sep 2024
"This cabin was lovely. Was lovely walking In and seeing bottle of Cava and chocolate. Double Spa bath and the four poster bed."
Helen - Sep 2024
"Everything was so clean!"
Claudia - Sep 2024
"This lodge style is our favourite, with two en-suite bedrooms at opposite ends of the lounge. It is large and spacious lodge with everything for need."

Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"First time in a Gardeners lodge, we stayed in no.26. Lovely lodge, all the essentials inside and a lovely bottle of Cava and continental choccies waiting for us. So warm and cosy inside, spotlessly clean and plenty of fresh towels and bath robes for us to use. Nice little welcome pack of tea/coffee/milk and some packs of biscuits. Tea towels and oven gloves and some cleaning stuff to get you started. The hot tub was up to temperature and a delight to sit in with a drink. You have great walks in the forest and Tykes Restaurant and sports bar is 10 minutes away which is lovely for lunch or dinner or just a drink. You get 10% off if you show your key. But what really makes this place for us is the wildlife. Amazing!!! Birds galore, they do eat a lot, cheeky squirrels who will come to the window for food and we got a visit from the badger every night! Love it. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back."
Kirsty - Mar 2024
"Fantastic place to stay"
Andrew Luinen - Mar 2024
"Cabin inside was lovely and clean however the front door was covered in bird poo. Windows could do with a clean"
Nicola - Feb 2024
"The cabins are recently refurbished & are gorgeous inside with open plan kitchen, living room & dining room. There are modern appliances in the kitchen including a large fridge freezer, oven, hob, microwave & dishwasher. The beds are comfortable with fresh white linen & a theres a fab bathroom with a bath on one side plus walk in shower on the other. There is rear doors leading to enclosed decking, ideal for children or dogs. The hot tubs are lovely & very private surrounded by trees - already set up for use on arrival & checked by staff regularlyduring your stay. Lots of wildlife with a variety of birds, rabitts & squirrels. I would recommend buying some bird food & nurs from reception & you're guaranteed to have some friendly visitors. There is a shop at reception & Sandburn Hall is a short walk away with resteraunt, bar & golf facilities."
Tracey - Feb 2024
"The cabin itself was of a very high standard. Everything worked. It was spacious and child friendly. The hose for our wellies, washing machine and tumble dryer made a February muddy break easy to manage. The wine and chocolates, robes etc were lovely touches."
Emma - Feb 2024
"First time we have booked a premier and I will struggle to go back to a regular now."
Louise - Feb 2024
"Very relaxing"
Ray - Feb 2024
"Beautiful place to stay. The lodge was lovely and clean with everything we could ask for. The forest had great walks for the dogs and we loved the wildlife around the property"

"Just come back from a weekend at Griffon Forest. We go to a lot of lodges and this one by far is my favourite. It is situated in the middle of a forest so you see a lot of wildlife when you go on a walk. The lodge is well equipped in the kitchen and love the fact you have a little utility room. Its very quiet on the site which is total bliss. Griffon Forest is my happy place!"
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Fabulous place to stay. We stayed in a poachers lodge designed for couples. There was a free bottle of Prosecco when we arrived, the lodge was modern and had everything we needed. The hot tub and jacuzzi were fantastic. Lots of little walks and a golf club with restaurant are just next to the site. The staff were also really helpful and the condition of the lodge was immaculate. I would recommend this place to anyone"
Matthew - Jan 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay. The lodge was fabulous surrounded by a beautiful forest. We would definitely like to come again. The only slight negative is the arrival time - not being able to get into the lodge until 4.30pm on the Friday then having to leave Sunday at 9.30am makes it quite expensive as you only have one day."
Dellanie - Jan 2024
"Lovely family weekend away, lodge was spotless, everything you could need for a fabulous weekend away."
Beverley - Jan 2024
"The bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen in the lodge were good but the living area really needs new furniture. The sofas were very worn and not comfortable to sit on.The dining table and chairs have also seen better days. The lodge was very warm and the heating was easy to control.Unfortunately there were a lot of works going on around the site while we were there and although we were informed a few weeks before our break it did impact our stay more than we expected. The works went on for most of the day and was noisy so we couldnt relax in the lodge. On our last day the checkout time was 9.30 and we had workmen on our drive at 9.15 waiting to tarmac it."
Shaun - Jan 2024
"Griffon Forrest is one of our favourite retreats and we return annually as we love it that much. It has got rather expensive over the years but in our opinion its worth it!! Fantastic lodges and location with great service to match! Very highly recommended!!"
Simon - Jan 2024
"Lovely big lodge. Traditional, but very comfortable. Large en-suite bedrooms at the opposite end from each other. Number 54 is near the Tykes trail & a 10 minute walk to the hotel."
Carmel - Jan 2024
"a real luxury get away. fantastic for 2 couples with the 2 ensuite double rooms.very clean and well equipt. this was our third visit and already looking at next one. its so peaceful you really think your the only ones in the forest"
carol barker - Jan 2024
"We stayed in a Keepers pet friendly in July. It was amazing!! The lodge was huge, very clean and had everything you needed from a dishwasher to a washing machine and tumble dryer. The hot tub was outstanding and checked every morning by staff. The site is very clean and quite. The driveway into the sight is stunning and houses so much wildlife. The walks around the park are amazing too and we saw so many deer and foxes. They have wildlife cameras that you can watch on the TV in the lodges. We hired bikes too, it very good value for money and very easy to do. The staff were fantastic. You are out of the way of any supermarkets but can get a delivery to site and there are some stunning towns to visit not far from site. Whitby is about an hour drive. We absolutely loved our holidays. We will definitely be booking next year. It was one of the best sites we have ever stayed in."
Zoe - Aug 2022
"A perfect location for visiting York. The lodge was really clean, luxuriously comfortable and well equipped. The forest setting was relaxing and the sister hotel was a convenient short walk away. Superb."

"Had a great stay at the lodge. The accommodation was nice and comfortable the area around the lodge was great."

Paula - Jul 2022
"We stayed at Cherry Tree Barn and it was absolutely beautiful, gorgeous surrounding areas. The barn was very clean and very big, 3 good sized bedrooms. We did a woodland walk with our dog it was about an hour and it took you to Sandburn Hall. Tykes restaurant is also at Sandburn Hall and it is definitely worth a visit, the food was excellent and the staff are a credit to the restaurant, all were extremely helpful and friendly. We will definitely visit again in the near future."
Dawn - Jul 2022
"Had a lovely time. Was heatwave first day so no need for hot tub,acd tub would have been better, Lol. could have done with air con or fans that day. But a lovely time and the best WiFi set up with smart TV. Great. Ps be aware the WiFi logs you out and you have to search again to reconnect every so often but inly when you have bit used for a while. A wee squirrel visitor came to see us every day on the patio. Bring the citronella candles though as you are in a forest. Not many midgies but horseflys. Great location for York and Scarborough."
Fiona - Jul 2022

If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
