Date of stay: 2nd April 2018
We stayed in the Acorn Lodge for 3 nights, on arrival we found out that the toilet was blocked and had to wait for a plumber to come and fix it. Once it was fixed we were offered late check out due to this issue, which we were pleased about. The lodge itself is absolutely beautiful we could not fault it at all. The hot tub was very private and not looked over at all. Our shower then flooded as there was a problem with the draining so we had to use the only two towels we had to clean it up. We asked the owner on the afternoon of our last day if she could bring us some extra up, we didnt get any extra towels until the morning of our departure. As this was our last night we wanted to spend it in the hot tub but were unable to as we had no extra towels. I spoke to the owner and she said that she would send me a discount code for any future stays due to this issue but didnt receive it. Apart from these two issues we did have a lovely stay overall.
Jennifer, Louth
Date of stay: 26th March 2018
This lodge was fantastic. It had everything we needed to enjoy a really nice weekend. We were shown round by Gerry who was very welcoming and gave us all the information were needed. The only real issue with the location of the lodges was the access road which is in a very poor state leading to the reception. There is a sign to advise this would be being replaced once the weather improved.
Amy, Doncaster
Date of stay: 23rd March 2018
We stayed in the cedar lodge and it was lovely very romantic and cosy. Kitchen fully equipped with everything you need! Decking out onto waters edge with hot tub! Only thing I can say is you are slightly overlooked by the other lodge, could do with more shrubbery to make it more private! The lodge was quite cold and the 2 radiators in the lodge were on constantly!
Steven, Warrington
Date of stay: 23rd March 2018
Me and my wife stayed in the lodge for our anniversary, we couldn't have asked for more the lay out of the lodge is spacious and cozy. the folder that was in the lodge was very useful for local attractions and how to get in and out of York was extremely helpful

Date of stay: 16th February 2018
Great lodge. Comfortable, impeccably clean, lovely white fluffy towels which were changed when needed. All mod cons. Warm and cosy in February half term. Useful information provided. Quiet location. View from the lodge over the pond/lake was very relaxing. Great watching the birds whilst relaxing in the hot tub! Selby a short drive away for food/supermarkets etc.
Michael, Hartlepool
Date of stay: 11th February 2018
THE ONLY NEGATIVE I CAN THINK OF WAS THE BEDS WERE A BIT TOO SHORT WITH A FOOT PANEL AT THE BOTTOM, ME BEING 6ft5 I COULDNT STRETCH OUT IN BED, OTHER THAN THAT EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT

Very good accommodation and I would have no hesitation in booking again. Facilities within the lodge were very good and the Wii Fi was perfect for our 14yr old. Hot tub was great fun warm and checked daily by site staff. Parking was good and there was a park & ride close by going in York. Look forward to my next booking.

Date of stay: 13th October 2017
The acorn lodge is amazing! We loved it here and we will be returning because it was so great! The room was to die for, the bed was comfy and the bath was humongous! The only thing was the shower it was too high tech to understand so we left it alone. The hot tub was amazing and it was privately hidden you could just see your neighbours fence to their decking and hottub. Really lovely accommodation and was very homey and cosy with the furnishings.
Jeanette, Worksop

We had a great time and the lodge was exactly as described, quiet and comfortable.
Harriet, Newcastle
Date of stay: 4th August 2017
The lodge was clean, well equipped and well maintained. The only reason it's not 10s all round is the shower was a little tired and the base felt slightly precarious in certain areas, but it was totally useable so not a huge problem whatsoever.
Joan, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Date of stay: 3rd July 2017
We stayed in acorn lodge. The road to the lodge was a bit of nightmare as uneven with potholes but it was a farm track so can't really complain but a decent road would make it 10 out of 10.
Gerry met us at the lodge she showed us round and gave fab recommendations on where to eat which we did use and were excellent. The lodge is close to MacArthur glen outlet and she advised the park and ride to York which we did use and this was fab it cost £6 return for two of us took about 15 mins and dropped us right in centre of York.
The lodge was beautiful very grand and exceeded our expectations. The steam shower was great and the hot tub fab but disappointing that the lid opened towards the lake and blocked the view but this was a very minor point ! We loved our time s great property in a great location, it was expensive but as a luxury treat it certainly fitted the bill, can't wait to return.

Decor - nice and modern and clean added bonus of Hot tub - which is becoming a bit tired and worn but did the job. Lovely to come back after busy days shopping and entertaining little ones to somewhere that felt homely and relaxed. Would definitely recommend.

Acorn Lodge is lovely, bathtub in the bedroom with large double shower. This lodge has a luxury feel to it, I didn't feel like I was in a lodge whilst inside.

Caroline, Dorset
Date of stay: 17th February 2017
The cabins are comfortable and had all we needed in it to cook and prepare dinner, very warm with the heaters in all rooms, beds were comfortable and plenty of storage (although could do with more coat hangers). everything was spotlessly clean......especially the cooker! bedding was soft and fresh, WiFi was a little lacking but fine for Facebook, google search etc.......no good for video streaming. Sofa was comfortable although as a family of 3 it had ample space if 4 adults are there it could be a little too cozy. The only negative I can come up with was in the second bedroom one of the beds was pushed up to and covering the electric heater, we pulled it off as far as we could but it was still too close, I think bunk beds would work better in that room. Would stay again if in the area. Loved the hot tub kept at 40 degrees and the view of the pond.
Catherine, St Helens
Date of stay: 6th February 2017
Fantastic from start to finish. The lodge was spot on and exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this to anyone
Ben
Date of stay: 23rd January 2017
Great lodge could do with an outside light on the back lodge 14 was so dark getting in and out of the hot tub other than that was perfect will be returning
Rebecca, York
Date of stay: 16th January 2017
Would be 10/10 however burnt food in the oven led to the fire alarms being set off when cooking - easily fixed. Also the steam room was out of use which we didn't know when booking, however this didn't impact on the holiday whatsoever - still brilliant.
Michael, Leeds
Date of stay: 13th January 2017
We had a fab time at oak wood lodges, accommodation was a higher standard than we expected, as we had a pet friendly lodge, we went in January and the lodge was lovely and warm through out our 4 night stay, as was the hot tub. Skip worth common is great for dog walkers, or nature lovers, we would definatly stay here again
Christopher, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Date of stay: 27th December 2016
Great lodge with everything you for a get away. Large kitchen diner and very spacious bedrooms. Hot tube was well maintained and the water was replaced and checked before our arrival.
Gerry the manager was very helpful and gave us adive about the local area and what was on offer.

Date of stay: 27th December 2016
Absolutely fantastic, we spent Christmas here in the Acorn Lodge and its was one of our best Christmas's ever!
Sarah, Newcastle
Date of stay: 9th December 2016
The lodge was fab for what we wanted a deep clean was needed in taps dishwasher etc but nothing we couldn't live with or do ourselves. We knew that the power shower didn't work as of other reviews but kind of hoped it would have been sorted. However for 2 of us to enjoy a peaceful retreat it was lovely.
Derek, Middlesbrough
Date of stay: 2nd December 2016
We had a lovely relaxing break. The cabins are in a great location for visiting York and Leeds. We did our Christmas shopping and each evening we relaxed in the hot tub with a glass of wine. There is no better way to end a frantic shopping day.
Kate, Bedford
Date of stay: 5th August 2016
The lodge was beautiful inside. There was a few light bulbs out, one of them being the hot tub light which was annoying. On the whole though it was perfect for our stay.
Gillian
Date of stay: 1st August 2016
The lodge was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay however we couldn't get the shower or the steam room to work and the bath wouldn't retain any water. If these were in full working order our stay would have been much more luxurious. Also some of the plates and the frying pan were dirty. We still had a great stay

Road in is in desperate need of improvement.
Log cabin was lovely but needed attention to detail. The cover on the hot tub was broken and made it very difficult to take off and put back on.

The lodge was furnished really nice and was really clean! We had a really lovely break and couldn't fault it. Would definitely stay here again!

Date of stay: 4th April 2016
Cabin was lovely but up keep of jacuzzi would be a 1 out of 10
Tim, Market Deeping
Date of stay: 25th March 2016
To be honest, the quality and comfort of the lodge far exceeded our expectations.

Very nice finish to the place, little bits need doing but nothing you wouldn't find elsewhere, if you want 5 luxury and finish book yourself into The Hilton on Hyde Park, not a peaceful country lodge.

Very well insulated, we turned the heating off for our 3 day stay,
Very peaceful location, exactly what we were after, I think the local wildlife made most noise that we heard.

The road access does require some pot holes filling in but you will always get holes in gravel tracks that are used by agricultural traffic, easy, slow down and the road is fine!!
Having read previous reviews, we took a mattress topper and had no issues with the bed.

Hot tub was fabulous, hot on the first night we got there and very clean, we did see a gent testing the water during our stay so the tubs are obviously constantly monitored.

Not that it bothered us but be aware that there is no shop, bar or eating facilities on site, you need to go totally self sufficient, main supermarkets are only 10 minutes away in Selby so not a problem.
We, and our 2 Spaniels will not hesitate to go back again and I will have no problem recommending this location to anyone who wants peace and quiet.
Paul, Sheffield
Date of stay: 18th March 2016
Really nice looking lodge, great interior and spacious parking. The hot tub was at temperature as soon as we got there, meaning we made full use of it every night of the stay. Kitchen was surprisingly well stocked with different cooking utensils. The seating area is very comfortable and long allowing you to lay out across and relax in front of the fire deco.
The only problems we encountered was a loss of hot water during the first two evenings. We tried to call the out of hours management but the phone was never answered. Also the power shower was difficult to work out, and seemed to only have a temperature of freezing cold or scalding hot so we couldn't make much use of that which was a shame as it was one of the factors for us choosing that particular lodge.
Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely visit again.
Yvonne, Bridge Of Weir
Date of stay: 29th February 2016

Joanne
Date of stay: 26th February 2016
Really nice stay here for the second time. We stayed in the cedar lodge again and still love the place! Cleanliness was good and the hot tub by the water is great! Only downside is the lack of privacy of the hot tub area to the next door lodge but it wouldn't stop us returning! The area is very isolated and therefore quiet and peaceful but easy to get to nearby towns and shops in the car! Great for a nice break away from everything!
Pamela, Norrh Shields

Date of stay: 30th December 2015
After reading the reviews I was a little worried about stopping, but we had a great stay the lodge/site was clean tidy a little dated but for the price I believe you can see past that! Overall I would definitely go back and stay again.
Karen, Northumberland
Date of stay: 20th November 2015
New poles for blinds needed as none in the bedroom or kitchen. Idealy an outside light would help for winter months and light bulbs need checking, we had one out in the kitchen and the sofa really needed renewing as very worn.

Lodge was great however required some small maintenance work, the lodge was in the middle of know where and there was no staff on site I tried contacting the manager from the card we were given but there was no reply. However overall it was a lovely holiday.

Date of stay: 17th July 2015
We stayed here (lodge 6) for 4 nights as a treat for my boyfriends' birthday. We loved the location and the accommodation! The hot tub was great too. The lodge was clean, comfortable and luxurious all rolled into one. Little things could be improved such as the tiny freezer with no door but it did not take away from the holiday at all. We had a brilliant, relaxing time in the peace and quiet. This is the 4th site we have visited and the one we are most likely to return to in the very near future.
Sian, Doncaster
Date of stay: 6th July 2015
We had a perfect 3 days away to these cabins. We stopped in No 7 and was lovely, our only down fall was the dishwasher wasn't working properly or we just couldn't figure it out. Staff was very helpful, even though we didn't see anyone we only had to ring the owner up if any issues, and she more than helpful, would highly recommend and we will be going back, great break away
Dawn, Catterick, North Yorkshire
Date of stay: 3rd July 2015
We stayed here June 29th - July 3rd 2015 on our honeymoon. We were in acorn lodge (6). Check-in was quick and easy with a lovely lady who we never saw again, although we had contact details if we needed them. The lodge location is ideal for remoteness. Not much space between cabins but luckily for us there were bushes hiding views of neighbours. Hot tub wasn't ready the first night but we knew that was a possibility. Initial first impression - fantastic. Clean, tidy lodge, nice furniture and fittings. The only downsides were a tiny freezer, the bath taps not marked and VERY hot. I actually burnt my fingers the first night, and the pressure in the shower was very low and the shower head wouldn't sit properly on the rail.
Lots to do, IF you drive - not a problem for us. Will definitely be back, hopefully for our first anniversary :)
Valerie, Sunderland
Date of stay: 26th June 2015
Our stay at oak lodge was very enjoyable where all are needs were taken care of, with only one hic cup there was not enough crockery so dishwasher was constantly on therefore we needed more dishwasher tablets.

The only down side of the accommodation was that the steam shower didn't work but iv read this in other reviews, we didn't complain about it as we didnt want to be interupted. The lodge was beautiful and we were more than happy with just the hot tub.

Acorn Lodges are plenty big enough for two people and are nicely furnished and decorated.

Oakwood Lodges are definitely a favourite retreat of mine and my partner. Perfect for relaxation. In the car you can find places to explore, village pubs and quaint shops within minutes however we mainly go for the peace and quiet.

Only tiny negatives for us: a sensitive smoke alarm when cooking, medium level privacy but enough for us and the hot water ran out after a bath, however it was full again in no time.

Excellent location, quiet, clean and great steam shower, bath and hot tub!
Only thing letting it down was the broken tv remote held together with sticking plasters!

Enjoyed our stay. However, we were told we would be refunded for the first night as we had no hot water. We never received our refund as we had to check out a day early

In general the lodge was spot on. The only bad part was the hot tub. The hot tub itself was great, however there were no fixings to fasten the cover down. As it was extremely windy that weekend, i was woken by the hot tub cover blowing off at 4am on saturday morning. As i was worried about it blowing into the lake, i had to get up at 4am and drag is through a muddy field and onto the tub. Luckily i had some rope in my van which i had to get and tie it down. Onviously this was a unpleasent experience at 4am and in the freezibg cold for 20mins!

Was the best lodge I have stopped in, the bed was so comfy, maybe could have some outside lights so it is a bit brighter, but was amazing & such a nice week.

It was a lovely cabin, sofa was lovely and comfortable for the 2 of us. The hot tub was amazing, there is not complete privacy as you can see others in theirs, but this did not matter, and it overlooks a cute little pond with ducks on. Cabin had everything that we needed.

Problem with the fuse box in bramble lodge. Turning on patio lights -flicker then through house fuse. We knew that first day so thankfully we didn't discover it on Xmas day. There was a way around it- it needed a note on the light switch - not to use- to avoid the fusing. Would still use the same lodge again.

there were a few issues with broken equipment (scissors and knife and chipped mug), there were no cleaning materials or equipment we always prefer to give the accommodation a quick clean during our stay and before we leave but were unable to on this occasion.

The lodge inside was fab on first impressions. The shower was broke along with the fire. The oven didn't turn off and the bed was slightly uncomfy.

Marked down on the furnishing because both single beds collapsed - as this happened at bed time which meant one of the party ended up sleeping on the sofa the first night until we could get someone out to fix them the next morning. On our last day one of them collapsed again!!

Very stylish furniture and decoration throughout, was quite expensive just for the weekend but you pay for what you get and it was lovely. The lodge Was clean and tidy on arrival with fresh bedding and towels. Was well centrally heated, and constant hot water for shower or bath. Steam shower was amazing and bath was very large. Kitchen was well equipped. Only thing we disliked was the hot tub wasn't very secluded, we could clearly see across into another lodge.

Bramble lodge itself is lovely. It's open plan living, kitchen and dinin area is a lovely light space and the patio area outside is a great space. We were impressed with the modern appearance of bramble lodge. However we were disappointed with the level of general maintenance in a lodge which is described as a 'luxury lodge'. A wide variety of kitchen utensils were provided which was great, unfortunately however, most of these we're broken such as a kitchen knife which fell apart when picked up. As well as this, 2 of the 4 bathroom lightbulbs were out and one of the living room lightbulbs. We stayed at bramble lodge fri- fri and had to ask the staff for clean towels on Monday afternoon as there was nowhere to dry wet towels. Overall bramble lodge was lovely and we would stay again, although for a shorter period of time due to the age of our children. We do however think it's a shame that basic maintenance issues could put off other holiday makers. Definitely worth a try though

The lodge was perfect, however it wasn't clean as you'd expect! There was a few cobwebs in bedroom and things were dusty. The oven however I must say was filthy.
The lake outside the lodges is a lovely idea if it was also clean. I'm amazed the ducks were able to move in it..

We really enjoyed our stay, however, the dishwasher wasn't working and the plates/cuttlery/cups in the cupboard weren't clean either. Item of furniture in the main bedroom was about to fall off. But these were just minor things - and we would definitely recommend this palce to our friends!
Thank you.

The lodge looked amazing, from the outside old and cute but the inside was modern and beautiful, it could have been cleaner and cleaning stuff could have been provided for when you have cooked dinner but apart from that the lodge was stunning.

The lodge and surrounding scenery were simply breathtaking, not to mention the hot tub which topped off a fabulous short stay at Oakwood Park. The pamper packs purchased via the site were fabulous and gave us major brownie points for the duration of our stay (and beyond)! Close enough to York for sight seeing with a very nice carvery close by. If I could rate it higher than 10 I happily would!

Date of stay: 12th May 2014
Great cabin, very modern inside TV & DVD could possibly be upgraded and our hot tub wasn't totally secluded(could see one other) but other than those minor issues it was a lovely place which I'm certain I'll be using again. Very happy overall

All in all had a wonderful break . Very peaceful yet close to attractions of York.
Could do with privacy screens around hot tubs as we have seen at other lodges.

The Cedar lodge was very good quality and the facilities such as free standing bath and shower and good size kitchen area made it very comfortable to stay in. Our only queries about the accommodation itself are that the shower was very hot and you could not turn the dial down to a cooler temperature and the quality of the DVD player was poor, however the TV viewing was fine.

Stayed here for a week with my boyfriend! Stayed in a lodge with a lot of privacy! Hot tub was amazing and was ready that night, everywhere was very clean! The shower was a good temperature, the double bath was amazing! Me and my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed our stay however if your planning on going out in to Selby be aware that getting a taxi is a nightmare (reception failed to tell us this and gave us a private hire lady which cost us 12£ to get there) other than this this was most certainly excellent value for money and already looking at going back!!!

The reason I marked furniture and fittings as a 6 is because the Lights was not working by the bath. Shower was broke. Dial wouldn't turn, could only get a shower if you can stand 50 degree's. Also the dish washer draw was broke.
Sarah
Beautiful lodges in a great setting. The location is beautiful but you have to drive if you want to go anywhere locally as it is all fields and country lanes with no paths. The person who runs them is lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay here again for a totally relaxing chill out week/weekend.
Amy
We stayed in the cedar lodge and it was lovely very romantic and cosy. Kitchen fully equipped with everything you need! Decking out onto waters edge with hot tub! Only thing I can say is you are slightly overlooked by the other lodge, could do with more shrubbery to make it more private!
Steven
the Holiday was perfect in every way
Jennifer
This lodge was fantastic. It had everything we needed to enjoy a really nice weekend. We were shown round by Gerry who was very welcoming and gave us all the information were needed. The only real issue with the location of the lodges was the access road which is in a very poor state leading to the reception. There is a sign to advise this would be being replaced once the weather improved.
Samantha
Beautiful lodges in peaceful surroundings. Lodges spacious, comfortable and very homely. The hot tub was amazing and kids loved it. Definitely recommend and will be booking again.
Elaina
Lovely lodge went for my husband's 30th. Had a brilliant relaxing weekend. And the hot tub was amazing
Lauren
My boyfriend and myself had a wonderful time at these lodges. We stayed in number 10 and could not fault it at all. We will 100% be going back. Thanks Gerry.
Darren
Recently spent 3 nights at the Acorn Lodge at oakwood lodges, was extremely impressed with the interior and cleanliness. Overall was a nice and relaxing stay. Only improvement would be to make the hot tub a bit more private.
Natasha
Great location for a chilled week away, which is just what we needed, but not a lot in close proximity or easy walking distance for us including our dog but we were happy enough to pop in the car to the shop and pub! We paid a visit to York, Scarborough and the seaside!
Andrew
Really nice Place..staff were very welcoming and helpful!
Scott
Very nice place, helpful staff and had a lovely stay
Kelly
We had a great time staying at a romantic lodge for 2. Accommodation was beautiful and just the right size. We had a wonderful time in the hot tub and the location was lovely and quiet. Lots of amenities a short drive away and we spent a lovely day in York. Many local takeaways deliver and I'd arranged for a supermarket delivery which had no trouble finding the location. We had a small issue with our dishwasher which was fixed with no hassle to us. We had a wonderful time and are very likely to go back in the future. With the smart tv we were able to sign into our Amazon prime and Netflix account which was a great bonus. If you are looking for a beautiful quiet location with city locations within a 20 min drive then this is the place for you.
Geoffrey
Very happy with lodge, and a peaceful break away, from all the crowds.
