Holkham Beach (30 minutes drive) was voted UK’s best dog beach and is worth the trip. For rainy days, The Warehouse Antiques & Crafts Centre welcomes well-behaved dogs while you browse.
1. Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary – Get eye-to-eye with sharks, watch playful otters and see rescued seals being rehabilitated before release. The sanctuary does important conservation work and offers fascinating feeding talks throughout the day. Kids love the interactive rockpool experiences.
2. Norfolk Lavender – Just outside town, this aromatic attraction features 100 acres of lavender fields (spectacular in July/August). Tour the distillery to see how they make essential oils, visit the animal garden, or grab lavender-infused treats at the tearoom. Your lodge will smell amazing after bringing back some lavender goodies! Pricing: Garden entry £3.50.
3. Hunstanton Heritage Gardens – These beautifully kept gardens run along the cliff tops offering stunning views. The Esplanade Gardens feature a play area, bowling green and putting course. 4. Snettisham Park Farm – This working farm offers deer safari rides where you can hand-feed their red deer herd. Collect eggs, meet the horses and let the kids loose in the play areas. Their farm shop sells amazing local produce to take back to your self catering lodge. Pricing: Adults £12, Children £11.
5. RSPB Snettisham Nature Reserve – Bird watchers, get your binoculars ready! This reserve hosts one of the UK’s natural wonders – massive wading bird formations during autumn high tides. Even if you’re not a twitcher, the spectacle is jaw-dropping. Pricing: Free (donations welcome).

1. When’s the best time to visit Hunstanton?
Summer brings the warmest weather but biggest crowds. May and September offer decent weather with fewer people. Winter has its own charm with wild seas and empty beaches – plus off-peak rates for lodge stays with hot tubs!
2. Can I bring my dog to Hunstanton beach?
Old Hunstanton Beach welcomes dogs year-round. The main beach restricts dogs from May to September.
3. Where can I find the best fish and chips?
Fishers of Hunstanton on The Green consistently wins local awards. Their cod is massive! Henry’s on the main strip is also excellent.
4. Are there any good walks nearby?
The Norfolk Coast Path offers stunning walks in both directions. The Hunstanton to Thornham route (6 miles) is particularly beautiful.
5. What if it rains during my lodge holiday?
Besides enjoying your hot tub (rain makes it even better!), visit The Princess Theatre, Hunstanton Heritage Centre or drive to King’s Lynn for shopping.
6. Where’s the nearest supermarket to stock up my self-catering lodge?
Tesco Express in town centre for basics. Larger Sainsbury’s and Lidl in King’s Lynn (15 minutes drive).
